Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

This is the game I picked for us to lose weeks again. Tough team with us coming off a tough game on the road, MNF, short week, etc.

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

i expect the Steelers to really play us tough...more so than the other times we play them. We need to be on our game or the Steelers will be THE ONE. Looking forward to the game

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

Given that your options at this point are Jets, Dolphins, Giants, and Steelers coming off a short week...yep, the Steelers are the best bet for being "the one."

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

Purely on the basis of if not, then who? Certainly the team that lost at Arizona and at Denver and at the JETS, and barely beat the rookie QB'd rival Browns or the mighty QB-less Doofins at home is the last best hope for those who would rather poke their own eyes out with hot coals than see this team go undefeated. 'Cause after that we host those JETS and Doofins and visit the least athletic of Archie and Olivia's children in the Meadowlands to finish the regular season. Not much to hope for there.

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

I would not be surprised if they drop this one to the Steelers. That's why beating Baltimore was so big.

But...

I do expect them to play tougher on defense.

How good is that Pittsburgh secondary?? Better than the Eagles?

Will the Pats receivers drop 8 balls again?

Is the Steelers pass rush better than Baltimore's or Philly's?

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

steelers will get holmes and polamalu back which will be big. if this were the old steelers under cowher i would say we win definitely because all they did was run. this team throws quite a bit too so it could be interesting.iam not sure how good their oline is compared to the eagles and ravens.

Excuses aside, this is exactly the type of game the past Patriots championship teams have won. The team should a lot of mettle with two 4th quarter comebacks but BB has always preached that that good teams play their best after Thanksgiving. The Patriots have played their two worst games and flaws in both the secondary and front seven have been exposed, this is not a good trend.

There is still work to be done, they can clinch a first round bye this week and more importantly they can make a statement that they play man up against a physical running attack and a pressure defense.

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

I'm not sure the Steelers are going to quite be as tough as everyone else. The reasons the Eagles and Ravens did so well is that they were loose, relaxed and just played with that "what the eff, no one expects us to win anyway" mentality and both teams probably played their best games all year against us.

Not so for the Steelers. This game is almost a must win for them if they want the #2 and the BYE (and HF consideration). They will not be so footloose and carefree. That could be good, and IT COULD VERY WELL BE BAD.

One thing is certain, this game is more important to win for them, then it is us.

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

I agree. The Steelers can't afford to throw everything and the kitchen sink at us like the Ravens and Eagles did. They have a first round bye to play for or they are looking at a game at home against Cleveland/Tennessee and traveling to Indy if they can win in the WC round.

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

This is the real deal with the Steelers. Good team having good motivation to beat the Pats. Should be a barn burner.

I'm not swayed in the least by their losses this season, it's a matter of maintaining focus to play well, and the Pats provide that incentive to every opponent.

Re: Steelers could be the one:Adam Schein

The Patriots defense has got to be the most disappointing part of this team right now and I think what the defense has accomplished has been a product of the high scoring offense. I would compare it to the how opponents would deal with the constant scoring of the Colts; opposing offenses would press so as to keep up with the Colts. That puts the ball in the hands of the quarterback, dropping back to pass and interceptions.

So the Patriots defense is inheriting an opposing offense that is under pressure to keep up, with their quarterback trying to get the ball down field and match the Patriots point for point. Both the Ravens and Eagles made that mistake; the Raven's Kyle Boller forced the ball that was intercepted by Sanders and Feeley laid one up deep for Samuel. At the same time, these teams found a weak spot and hit it hard. The Pats couldn't cover the middle of the field against the Eagles and they couldn't stop the run against the Ravens. And the mistakes that each QB made were mistakes they didn't have to make.

In the past, the Patriots defense was amazing in the red zone and were able to make the stops when they needed to. I would almost contend that the defense of the past was less talented, but at the same time, Bruschi is older, no Ty Law, no McGinest, but a better Warren, Thomas, Green, Wilfork and Rodney Harrison. I would just expect better from that talent on the defense because it always seemed as if they didn't have the talent to match teams like the Colts and yet they matched them.

I guess I could say the same about the offensive line.

NOT a Chance.

PATs will win by at least 2 TDs. Could be a big blowout.

Reasons:

Tin men have had a soft schedule, haven't even played 1 top ten team.
Their D stats are inflated because of this.
JETs D did well against them .... you don't think PATs D will?
When they played JETs they weren't missing any key players.
Parker only got 2.5 yds/carry.

Big QBs are easier for PATs to contain. Keep Ben in the pocket and
PATs win BIG. Ben will have at least one or more ints.
PATs will not have a big problem with Parker.

This is essentially same players PATs played two years ago when PATs
didn't have the weapons it now has.
BB knows most of these players and will have a good plan to defeat them.

The whole PATs team is going to come out fighting mad this week
... just feel it.
PATs play at Foxborro not that crappy field the Tin men call a football field.

Not worried about the Steelers even on a short week.
