Hey everyone,

I know there's a # of draft speculation threads about how low of a pick we could have, but I'd actually be more interested in knowing how high of a pick we could have if everything went wrong. Aka, what pick have we "clinched" at this point?

It also seems more challenging to calculate.

So, say SF wins out the rest of the season, and the rest of the teams that are competitive for top picks lose out -- where would we end up?

Perhaps once this is answered/figured out how to be answered it could be merged into the main stickey-ed thread and updated weekly too?

Speculation is better spent on "best case" scenarios imho.

Too early to speculate on worse pick. If the 9ers run the table they are 8-8. That is VERY unlikely to happen. If it did the pick would be fairly middling. When we get down to game 15 or 16 it will be a lot easier to narrow down where the pick will be slotted.

laurence maroney.

oh, wait...I got my years mixed up.

In before brandon merriweather! it's too late for maroney

The Niners would be 7-9 if they ran the table.

EXCELLENT question, excellent thread. Sorry no one's willing to do the work to give us a good sense of it. I include myself BIG-TIME in that "no one," but I'm hoping someone else will.

right now 12 teams have 7 wins or greater...so there you go 20th it seems.

read my sig

is it still possible for them to be in the playoffs? If so, then the worst possible pick would be 31st.

Kinda a silly question to ask with four games to go. Worst case scenerio, every team with 5 loses or more will lose the rest of their games and the 9ers will win the next four... then they go to the playoffs with a 7-9 record (along with the Giants as Wild Card teams). So the whole thing could blow up if the stars align right for the commish and the Colts.

Good question. Has anyone made the playoffs with losing record?

i dunno about the worst but merriweather sucked.... he should have made that tackle on the ravens 40+yard play, missed tackles, the gimme interception with 15 sec left to ice the game... man, BB is really patient with this boy...

very frustrating...
