Dungy on BB w/ Bob Costas

Just more fuel on a bitter hated rivalry...

When this year’s New England game ended, there was a brief handshake between you and Bill Belichick. Most people viewed it as frosty. How did you view it?
“Well, it probably was. But that's Bill. Bill has always been that way with me.”

He probably doesnt want any of that "ugly" to rub of on him.

I guess BB doesn't like santimonious self righteous *******s either.

Imagine that.

Nothing new. HBO reporting on an old issue. Costas trying to pump up a possible Championship Game rematch.

the pick we gave to GB in 05 to get chad jackson was used by them to get greg jennings....owww

Remember the time BB began his press conference supporting Dungy's denunciation of NBC's TO/Desperate Housewives skit? Yeah, real frosty.

I'm curious to hear which side of Dungy comes out. The one who says all the right things and is professional or the side I suspect he really is...that of a self-righteous, preaching, holier-than-thou SOB!

I have to say, I didn't really see much wrong with his answers.

actually dungy was asked about this day after the game and he said the same thing that BB has always been the same with him even after wins and losses and he is intense on the field and has complimented his team in the past. of all the things costas needs to ask this is what he thinks of
EDIT:Costas doesnt ask if it helped the pats or not at least on reiss's transcript. which i think should be a logical question.

I agree...as much as I can't stand Dungheap, these answers are rather benign

Can we cut Dungy some slack? What is wrong with these answers? I'm getting tired of Pats fans turning around and doing to Dungy/Peyton exactly what we've been so pissed about everyone doing to BB and the Pats, namely nitpicking and distorting everything they say.

I don't think that the sideline videotaping was "cheating" but a breaking of the rules for stealing signals. But the "spygate" drama has been a black mark on the league, especially if you subscribe to the theory that everyone else does it, as I do. It has added to people's cynicism of sports in general, as has steroids and every other "dirty secret" that leagues try to downplay from the public.

Sure Dungy's comments don't sound so bad. Read them for what they are. He's backtracking off his immediate "Spygate" comments in the exact same fashion that Wade Phillips tried backing off his comments to Peter King, trying to pour cool water on the smoldering embers. When this interview with Costas airs, look to see if Costas calls him out on comparing BB to Barry Bonds? Let me spare you the suspense. He won't because there's no way to shine a decent light on that remark.

What does that have to do with the topic?

Also, anyone who actually paid attention to the draft will tell you NE drafted Chad Jackson in 2006 (36th overall). The Patriots selected Mankins, Hobbs, Kaczur, J. Sanders, and Cassel in 2005 (I didn't list players no longer with the team).

No. We hate him. :p

And they hate BB. Silly homer wars are getting really old especially when both sides start reaching for stuff that isn't even there (i.e. passing judgment on BB's marriage or taking a statement by Dungy about how the Pats are "the franchise of the NFL" and somehow turning that into "arrogance")

Do you trust these quotes anymore? I know I don't. Who knows what context they were used in or taken out of. The media has done this to the Pats and I don't trust the media anymore.

Dude... lighten up. It's sports... Rivialries are what it's all about!! It's all good. ;)

I trust them when Dungy is later asked if he still stands by them and says that he does. Why wouldn't you?

"In a conference call yesterday, Dungy said he didn’t regret his comments, but backed away from them a bit, saying that was his opinion “at the time.”
