I will be in basic training during when the Steelers face the Pats next week, damn I wish I could watch this game, but just so you know if the Pats win and I dont show up, then you will know why. Its not cause I'm being a chicken **** lol Good luck, and I hope its a good game, I'll probably be back in a couple of months.:)

Good luck!
God bless our troops.

Good luck Steve hope all goes well, with training that is. :D

1) Don't volunteer for anything
2) Don't keep soda in your canteen
3) Don't kill yourself on the pushups/pullups/situps/run in the early weeks, so you can show great improvement right before you graduate.
4) Study whenever you have a chance. Not only will you learn what they want you to learn, but it will keep your eyes from wandering, because...
5) ...Don't lift your eyes from your study materials to make eye contact with an instructor who's walking by; that's just asking for trouble
6) If the instructor doesn't readily know your name, remember: that's a good thing.
7) Don't flinch...ever
8) Always keep your weapon pointed downrange
9) Figure out what you do well, and then use that to bribe the best bootshine guy to do your boots for you
10) Good luck

Well, so I've heard. :D

I was in the Air Force (insert sissified boot camp joke here...it's probably true), but the overriding principle for all branches is "Do your job. Don't get noticed. Stand out after you graduate."

Too bad we couldn't send cracky to basic instead so he'd get PT'd into the ground; we should all be so @#$%ing lucky for that to happen.

Thank you for your service!
Good luck as a boot.

Best of luck to you and stay safe.

Good luck, bro.

Best of luck to you in the military. Unfortunately I had to do my basic through the holidays as well.

Remember this. You're reporting statement, very important, especially the first week. Get it down pat and it will save you in the short term. Also, your personal belongings. There will be a shakedown the first day you get there when they rummage through your bags. Do yourself a favor and pack as little as possible. toothbrush, paste etc. For the love of God don't be one of those idiots that packs a condom in your bag. We had one person do this and he had six drill instructors all over him. Lucky for me they lost my bag at the airport and they had nothing to rummage through. Anyway everything you need will be provided to you at the px/bx the day you get there or next morning. Shampoo, razors etc.

Good luck and God bless to a safe and fun term.
