When Peterson went down with the injury, everyone in the football world held their breath. Would the promising rookie be able to recover? Were the critics right about his "upright running" style being too dangerous for the NFL?

Peterson answered all questions with his breakout return performance in week 13. 116 yards rushing and 2 TDs. This is called Toughness people. It's an example that Maroney would be well served to learn from.

After missing only 2 games (week 11 and 12), Peterson comes back with this type of performance. That's what I call a FOOTBALL player.

In the face of seeing this type of toughness, coming back so quickly from injury, how can we countenance any further "babying" of Laurence Maroney?

It has been over 9 weeks since Maroney was last hurt. (He missed games 4, 5, 6). We are now in week 13. It's time to see if Maroney is made of sterner stuff, or if he's made out of silly putty.

It is pretty clear the difference you get from a #1 franchise back and ... Laurence Maroney. But there are 5 games left in the season. "LoMo" can still redeem himself. He just needs to develop a bit of toughness and start running decisively.

Like it or not, at least for 2007, Maroney is the #1 option for the Pats at the RB position. Come on Maroney, "buck up", take a page from Peterson's book. Run tough between the tackles and don't get intimidated by that Raven's D. Ray Lewis' best days are long behind him. And the Ravens offense is putrid. This is as good a game to step up as any.

Petterson tears it up with a torn ligament and a knee brace. Maroney could on dream to be as tough as this kid.

How do you guys know if it was Maroney or Belichick's decision to keep him out ? We were winning anyway, no need to rush him back. Minnesota really needed to win.

Well, if LM was made out of Silly Putty, wouldn't he get hurt less? I mean Silly Putty is pretty flexible and all.

You should have said "or if he's made out of balsa wood" or something.

Besides, can LM transpose your favorite newspaper funnies like Silly Putty can? I didn't think so. ;)

:D

Ooooh boyee.. I predict atleast 3 pages for the thread.... :singing: I too, am on board with this..

He makes a mean glass of Kool-aide, I hear.:D

Besides, Peterson is not a football player, he's a monster!

How come Peterson doesn't need "time" to "learn" how to be a NFL running back like our poor LoMo does??? I demand an investigation immediately because it is absolutely unfair that our poor LoMo needs time to "learn" the intricacies of the position but AP just gets to skip class and go out and bust arse!! Not fair!! Puhleaze. AP is a STUD people. A flat out, bonafide STUD. Putting our poor little LoMo in the same sentence as AP is an insult to AP. Hell, putting LoMo's name in the same sentence with glass is an insult to glass. LoMo is such a DUD it is embarassing. :D

Maybe we can trade for him... Maroney for Peterson straight up...

why don't you and Danny get yourselves a couple of high powered rifles and stake out Route 1 next to the Razor...then when you see these unbelievably offensive players, the two of you can murder them and satisfy this unbelievable mania you've built up.

It takes different players different time to learn. Some guys just have "it" from the start.

You're right, silly putty does have an intrinsic entertainment value that Maroney doesn't. Perhaps that was an unfair comparison...

Exactly. If Peterson can slap on a knee brace and play at that kind of level only 2 weeks later... what possible excuse is there to hold out Maroney from a football game 9 weeks later?

Wow this is a sick post. Just wow.

Seems hard to say someone has not lived up, when we do not know what he's been asked to do.

Also, one of the tradeoffs for a team never talking about injuries is that we never really know.

Running back is by far the easiest position to come into this league and get the job done in big time fashion. LoMo NEVER sees 8 men in the box like these other STUDS do because he plays with Brady, Moss, and the best passing attack the NFL has possible ever seen. Yet, even with that clear advantage, he still can't do anything to impress. The proof is in the pudding.

Now that's going too far. I think all Patriots fans would like to see Maroney succeed, because he is still a Patriot after all. But we have the right to be tired of hearing all the excuses.

I'd just like to see Maroney step up for once, to show that he has some kind of mental/physical toughness vs adversity. If he needs to slap on a knee brace, do it. But last time I checked football was a game played by men, not babies.

How do you know?

after thousands of anti-Maroney posts, it would seem that the next illogical step in the progression of this mania would be to act out. Happens all the time...look at the D.C. shootings a few years ago. Don't kill the messenger.

My opinion. Look at all the rookies that have come into this league and have torn it up. You don't see many rookies make pro bowls from other positions. We have seen lots of rookie running backs make pro bowls and be in the top 10 of all the NFL stat categories.

Wow. That's all I got to say. Wow.
