Forum posts mention McFadden # 2 to Pats. IF so, who would be the # 1 pick.

??s

Who are the top 10 draft prospects by order/position and what top five teams picking need position/talent.

I do not follow college ball that closely.

Appreciated

I think Miami will select Dorsey with the first overall pick. None of the QB's stand out too much to go # 1 overall and they still have Beck to see if he pans out.

Lucky for them they dont need a KR/PR, so they might actually make a good pick.

the top players are something like:

Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Chris Long, DE, Virginia
Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
James Laurinaitis, MLB, Ohio State
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
DeSean Jackson, (JR) WR, California
Dan Connor, LB, Penn State
Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky

we just need to hope that all the QB's are available when we pick, and somebody really wants 1

if we are unable to trade down at all, I think we go with Jake Long. paying a franchise Left Tackle #2 pick money isn't that outrageous.

Mel Kiper has (only seniors):

1. Glenn Dorsey Sr. DT LSU
2. Jake Long Sr. OT Michigan
3. Chris Long Sr. DE Virginia
4. Matt Ryan Sr. QB Boston College
5. Sedrick Ellis Sr. DT USC
6. Brian Brohm Sr. QB Louisville
7. Kentwan Balmer Sr. DT UNC
8. Andre' Woodson Sr. QB Kentucky
9. Dan Connor Sr. LB Penn State
10. Quentin Groves Sr. DE Auburn

Not a strong draft class when you look at it, but teams looming for a QB should do well. I would definitely take Brohm first.

Is Chris Long the type of player that can go from DE in college to OLB in our system? He is a beast.

I think Miami will select Dorsey with the first overall pick.

Probably will, probably should. A nice uncontroversial pick for the Dolphins for a change!

And with the first pick the Miami Dolphins select

Colt Brennen

He doesn't return punts so scratch him off your list... besides I thought the Dolphins were going to win the Superbowl, nice pick SI!

Who knows who they take, either Jake Long or Dorsey make some sense.

If the Pats end up with a pick in the 2-4 range I think it would be funny as hell if they kept passing until about pick 9 when the value gets better. It would show what a joke the rookie salaries are.

As it stands now it looks like they will trade back with a team seeking a stud QB for a mid first rounder in 07 and a first rounder in 2008. Then we start the dance over again.... re: Seattle in 2006, SF in 2007...

If the Dolphins GM passes on an impact DT like Dorsey for an OT (J Long) without having a legitimate NFL QB in place, he/she should be fired.

As for Beck, with the little I have seen of him, I think he could grow to become a dedcent NFL starter, but he is already 27 or 28 and is going to need a few years to grow. And unfortunately, he has no weapons, other than Brown (next season) around him.

libalu53 who started this post. I appreciate the update on college draft talent.

So....? is, if we (Pats) have the "2nd" pick.....(assuming the Pats do not trade it etc....a long short I agree) who do the Pats pick ? I see some of the "seasoned guys" on this forum like the can't miss OT.

Why all the interest in McFadden....I mean I know he is a great college back.

Personally I think Maroney will be fine as a #1 back, injured last year, coming around this year....BUT.. the team would be hard pressed to score 58 points in a game pounding out the ball on the ground.

Talent this year, Maroney doesn't figure in the O game plan as of now.

Again, thanks to all.

Bill D.

Moreand more I'm thinking Chris Long at #2,move AD make to the MLB, with Colvin and Vrabel breaking him in on the outside.

If last night's game against the Ravens taught us anything, it was Thomas can NOT set an edge on running plays. Maybe the Ravens knew this all along and smiled at the thought of Thomas all alone on the end of the line.

With his size and speed, maybe the inside is a good spot for him. Although BB didn't trust him to cover Whitten or Clark, so I do not know. Maybe we just bought the most expensive bag of rocks ever.

If not for Brady and those horrible refs, Thomas and/or Merriweather could be wearing goat horns for the rest of the week.
