Borges might be gone...but felger is doing a LOT to take his place as the local know nothing....yes..once in awhile he gets it right..but even a vroken watch has the right time twice a day...
The Herald piece..predicting money troubles..is just the latest in a chain of dumb opinion pieces..from the one who called Moss a dog and said he would do nothing this year for the Pats..VERY little credibility....right about that one??
Today he said something about..the PI calls in last night's game.."you see there are bad calls ALL the time as far as PI goes"...OR something like that. Did you bother to see who the officials were?? Same ones who made the bad calls in the Colts game..Duh!!
Just typical BS from mf.......

He's horrible! Remember the recent blown offensive inteference call against Moss? Felger said on FSN "it looked like a good call".

I seldom read his stuff anymore. It's bad enough that he is wrong so much, and particularly about the team he covers. But, what really drives me crazy beyong belief is that he's wrong, but thinks he's right. It's maddening.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

I haven't clicked on his articles, listened to his radio show or watched his pregame all season, assuming he is still on it. There are too many sources of info on the Pats to waste one's time on a transparent carnival barker like Felger.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

It ticks me off that other teams fans get homers covering them or at least reporters that dont hate the home team. Big surprise that the NY Times owns the Boston Globe. Maybe the Post owns the Herald.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

It really is pathetic how some writers in this town feel as if they need to be anti Patriot and anti Patriot fan in order to gain ratings.

It's as if they feel we are all lemmings, unable it to think on our own, brainwashed to the point of believing that everything the Patriots do is awesome and what ever the Patriots organization tells us is right. Only these self centered, egotistical, dorks are above this and are somehow better than the rest of us - at least they beleive they are.

These writers seem to really get off on mocking the fans, coach, players and ownership, whether they win or lose.

They are hell bent on trying to see if they can outdo each other as they try to turn everything into a harmful controversy of some type. Just look at the latest Moss crap - the guy is one of, if not the best WR this year - and all they can do is try to say he is dogging it because he may not have run full out on a play or two from the other night.

Specifically, I refer to the attitudes and actions of Felger, Macmullen, Shaughnessey, Casale (if he would stick to football and leave his idiotic patronizing views behind, he would be awesome, unlike the others from this list).

Someday, they will realize (as Reiss, Young, Pires, etc have) that what will increase their following and gain them ratings is what really matters to the fans of New England and fans of the NFL - in a word, that would be FOOTBALL. Imagine that, we want to read about, hear about, see and talk about the game itself, the strategies, rules, competition, rivalries, anaysis of the games, player interviews about the games etc etc.

It's really as simple as that.

Don't you think calling Felger "anti-Patriots" is a bit of hyperbole?

Sure, he doesn't say glowing things 24 and 7, but so what? Can honest opinion be considered "anti"?

That's a bit strong for me. To me that's over doing it.

He is from the Mid west and is a Green Nay Packer fan...nothing wrong with that. However, he should admit it.

It is that "holier than thou" attitude of his that is so irritating. He uses his talk show, newspaper articles and TV appearances as a way to go after certain players that he takes a dislike to - probably because they had no use for him.

The way he wrote about and treated Corey Dillon was wrong. He seems to be going down the same road now with Moss. He does it for the ratings - make no mistake about that.

It is real and without a doubt "anti". Who in their right mind could possibly say anything bad about Randy Moss this season?? Certainly not Felger only because he is not in his right mind - he is mindless.

When most of your columns about an 11-0 team are negative,or atleast contain negative jabs at the team. I dont think labeling him anti is strong at all.

He does admit it.It isn't a secret.
Have you heard him blast Favre?
I would say he is an anti pom pom more than a Borges.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

I read this topic, then went to read today's article. I was expecting a complete hatchet job.

Guess what? You can't believe everything you read on Patsfans. Some of it is much more biased than the media people whose bias is being attacked.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that article. Nothing. The message that the Pats will probably not be able to re-sign all their key pieces of this season is not negative, it is reality.

And I don't think it's fair to complain that this isn't a proper topic in the middle of the season. Obviously it interests people. There have been many posts here about it. Surprise, newspapers prefer articles that interest people.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

Can honest opinion be considered "anti"?
Are you serious? Of course it can, and is.

If your (or anyone's) honest opinion is that ESPN has ruined sports reporting and wish it had never come into existence, wouldn't you opinion (honest) be anti-ESPN.

Whether it is anti-Patriots, anti-death penalty, anti-crime, or anti-freeze, it doesn't matter if the opinion is honest or contrived. It is still the position.

Don't you think calling Felger "anti-Patriots" is a bit of hyperbole?
No, I think it is a pretty accurate assessment. Every so often he seems to shoot for impartiality, but mostly he looks for something negative to report.

Please provide a link to MacMullan's negative, anti-Patriot columns. Evidently, I missed those.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

Maybe it's because I no longer live in the area and only read his articles on the BH.com and don't hear him on the radio/TV, but I usually like his stuff.

It's unbiased and I often find myself agreeing with the majority of it.

Sure, he has certain pieces where he stretches the drama to create a story, such as the recent salary cap article, but even in that one, he's not over-the-top.

Dunno, maybe he's different on radio/TV, but his articles are usually spot-on in their criticism and praise.

(Other than his gleeful hatred of Ellis Hobbs 3.0.)

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

On one hand, I don't have a huge problem with anything he says. He takes an obvious worst case scenario with the cash it's going to take to hold onto these guys, but there's nothing untrue about any of it.

Felger is still a gigantic douche bag. And what makes him a douche bag is that it's a virtual certainty he wrote it with a smile on his face, hoping everything he wrote comes true. His junior douche bag in training (Tomase) is much the same way, practically gleeful anytime someone goes on IR.

I will say this, on the positive side Felger doesn't make a living off un-named (made up) sources like Florio does over at PFT.

I used to not mind Felger so much, but lately he's just been so friggin annoying I have to mute the TV when he comes on.

Mostly? Felger is a Patriots fan. I've heard endless hours of his talk and writings and to boil it all down to "Mostly negative" would be an exaggeration on your part.

Let me clarify what I meant by "anti". Bill Polian is anti. Ladanian Tomlinson is anti. ColtInIraq is anti. Followers of Christian cults who demand perfect behaviors from Bill are anti. Tom Jackson is anti.

Anti means anti - not a supporter who is honest about the team's shortcomings or a player's shortcomings. Anti is somebody who would be glad to see the team fail so that their own team can win. Does Felger fit that definition? That's my definition.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

IGNORE him, you will live a happier life

Felger just wrote a piece that said there's a time bomb under your bed. He even reported when it's timed to go off.

Ignore him and you will live a happier life.

Re: And now..batting for Wrong Borges...Mike Felger!!!

I have said in other threads that I like his stuff and his radio show. He does say some things that go against what a Pats fan wants to hear. Nobody wants to hear that we can't afford all these guys. Nobody wants to hear that Dillon was a selfish SOB who the rest of the locker room couldn't stand. But these things may be true, and I don't think that there is anything wrong with writing about them.

I think Felger wants the Pats to succeed, just as he wants his home town team, the Packers, to succeed. But just as he has a hard time stomaching Bret Favre, he has a real problem with some of the yahoos who think the Pats are always perfect in everything they do.

The Patriots franchise is human - they make mistakes. It's OK to admit this while still being a fan.

Hell - the very foundation of the Patriots was built on a series of HUGE mistakes!

As for Borges - he wished nothing but the worst for this team and specifically it's head coach. Never has the Boston sports world seen a more loathsome individual and hopefully we will never again.
