I feel bad for you american fans who are stuck.

its so stupid, what a crock

up here in Canada we dont have that problem, thank god, but dam what a joke

PFT always covers it, there is a link on their main page to a place you can write to protest

If you go to the NFL network's page there are links to write your congressperson.

I got a form letter back from Nacy Pelosi, saying:

Blah blah blah....NFL network.....Blah Blah...Comcast...

I payed the extra 2 bucks to get NFL network at home, and honeslty...its worth every penny. But this whole thing is redonculous.

Your first problem was writing to Nancy Pelosi in the first place....boy...

A showdown between the NFL and the rest of the (multi)media world has been looming for quite a while now.

Ever since the NFL network launched, there were grumblings amongst the print media about unfair levels of access for the NFL network versus the ESPNs, SIs, etc. Still, the coaches and players are bound by the league's rules on media access, and the NFL has the right to allow or deny access as they please!

Now they're taking on the (historically quite evil, and no champions of the average joe) cable companies by directly broadcasting games. The networks and cable companies buy the broadcasting rights to the games, but if the NFL chooses not to sell a specific game and broadcast it themselves, that's also their right!

This year will be interesting, because it's really the first phase of the showdown that affects the fan. The fact that big games like GB-DAL and NE-NYG aren't going to be available to most peopls is going to result in one of two things:

a) Fans go nuts, boycotting, protesting and writing letters to congressmen, the president and God. It's a PR fiasco for the NFL, and they give up their rights to the games to appease the common fan. Winner: Cable companies and a return to the status quo.

b) Fans whine and complain, but ultimately succumb to the desire to see the games they love and NFL network subscription rates rise dramatically. The NFL network can start carving the regular networks more and more out of the picture, and capturing all of the advertising revenue directly. Winner: The NFL.

This whole thing could be solved quite easliy if the NFL would allow all the cable companies to offer the Sunday Ticket in exchange for putting NFL Network on the basic package. Both sides woudl turn a huge profit and teh fans would get what they want.

this is an extra game anyways. it's not like people are losing a sunday game to watch. there's too much crying, if people wanted to see it so badly they'd buy direct tv.

I used to blame the cable companies for this problem, but as time has gone on, it's quite clear to me that the NFL is more at fault than the cable companies. The NFL should be happy with the NFL Network being on a sports tier. The average person will not watch the NFLN but football fans will be willing to pay a little extra per month to get it. But that's not good enough for the NFL. They want it all and they don't seem to care that we, the fans, get screwed.

how are you screwed? it's like getting pay per view for boxing. i'm sure you get to see your local game and then you get an extra game or two at the opposite time, then you get the sunday night game, then monday night game.

and now you are screwed because you miss out on one game that if it was on sunday you wouldn't see anyways?????

Verizon Fios just became available at my house today. NFL Network is part of the basic package and having the fiber will improve my HD picture and make my internet faster.

Bye bye Comcast.

I suggest you all check the availability in your area.

I can't blame the cable companies too much, here.

Why should they do anything to help the NFL when the NFL has done an enormous amount of damage to their business by making Sunday Ticket exclusive to DirecTV? Haven't most of the hardcore football fans (...i.e., the people most likely to watch NFL Network) already left for DirecTV?

I'll have to go to my GF's house for the last game of the season since that'll be on NFL Network.

It would cost 2 cents per subscriber to give us nfln. How come I get the golf channel and every soccer game played but no nfln? I would be more than happy to pay $5 a month for it (a 25,000% profit). But the way they have it I would have to purchase the whole sports tier for a lot more for sports I don't want to watch. It's not the same but thank God I have sirius! Eff time warner!!!

I thought the NFL Network was asking for $.70 per subscriber, which would make it one of the ten most expensive channels in the lineup?

They say they ask 2 cents per subscriber from the provider. If they lied about that on their official site then they would be up for some major lawsuits. I blame the evil cable giants.

It costs only 2 cents per subscriber a day for cable companies to offer NFL Network, yet they want to charge you up to $10 per month for the right to watch NFL Network.

Last I checked, 2 cents PER DAY isn't far off from 70 cents PER MONTH. Not a lie but clearly an attempt to trick readers.
