Look, let me be completly honest, I would be in dog heaven if the Pats go 16 and 0. But honestly if the choice is between us going 16 and 0 and a Super Bowl I would like the Super Bowl. 15-1 will make this team the greatest in my book. 4 Superbowls in a decade make us an obvious dynasty. Even if we lose a game. Match this team up with any other, and we would still beat them, when all that matteres was just one game. The teams we beat, the point differential we beat them by, has that ever been done. One crazy play could easily dictate one game, that could easily change the game, and that would not make this team any worse. The simple question comes down to this. One game one opponent, who is goona win the game, the answer is the Pats every time. The reason this team is so great is that when it comes down to it, when the game is on the line, when everything you worked for is confined to one play, the Pats will make the play, they will win the game. And one regular season game will not change that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup, and ur the only one on this site that thinks that...everyone else would accept the 16-0 over the sb....

u are so unique....

Maybe I'm being selfish, but I want both.

Let's put it this way: if we go 16-0, there would be no controversy and if we go 15-1 there would be. But to me, as it should be to most Pats fans , it should not matter. If we beat every other team 56-3, or 6-3, it simply does NOT matter!!!!

At this point I consider a 16-0 regular season to be "nice".

That's about it. Compared to what is going on in Iraq, Afghanistan, the financial markets, the stock market, the debt, the currency being devalued, inflation, a plastic garbage dump in the middle of the Pacific twice the size of Texas, a Gulf of Mexico dead zone, droughts, a flood of illegal immigrants, a broken political system, a no-win election coming, no, 16-0 and isn't high on my list of things I'd like to see.

In fact, it's so far down on my list that sometimes I wonder if we're all either stupid or mad. Maybe we've been drugged. This stuff is small potatoes compared to real life.

Then I hear, "But this is to make us forget about real life, that's the point!"

And I say, "You cannot escape real life by running to sports, like an ostrich with its head in the ground, you can only botch it, mangle it, and turn it into a farce by not taking care of your business."

And we're going to have plenty of business on our plates soon.

Even the cliff notes put me to sleep. ;)

When discussing greatest teams ever, near the top:

18-1 1985 Bears

Much later in the conversation (if included at all):

17-0 1972 Dolphins

Tells you all you need to know about what gets you a place in history. Unbeaten just gets you mentioned with the '72 Fins. Not a crew I care to hang with. Win the title and leave destruction in your wake...you get to hang with the Bears and 9ers great teams. Much better company.

So what do you think about Chad Brown at Outside Linebacker?

This is the second thread I've seen implying that going 0-16 will result in not winning the Superbowl.

I simply cannot see how the two are related, except that winning 16 games means the team is very very good and is therefore MORE likely to win.

'Crime, going 0-16 will DEFINITELY result in not winning the Super Bowl. I can pretty much guarantee that! :D

Strange talk for a guy who have been a member less than 3 months and has almost 700 posts. How do you have the time to post when you wring your hands and weep about the state of teh world 24/7?

Me? I say screw the outside world for a few hours a day.

Sports help us escape from the real world, as do books, movies, hiking, video games, and casual sex with super models. (I'm only guessing about the last one, but I'm pretty sure it's right.)

Seriously, enough with these topics.

We get it, you’re all going with the conservative “Let’s go 14-2 and get home field advantage approach”

This season transcends just another Super Bowl season, we are trying to establish ourselves as the best team of all-time. But you’d all be just swell with a loss if it were to happen?

Embrace the moment, we’re 11-0 with a margin of victory over 20. You want 16-0 and you want the Super Bowl. At this point my expectations have been raised so high that if we were to lose this season I’d be crushed.

I absolutely do not have the “16-0 would be nice, but hey if we lose whatever” mind state right now. I’m hungry for 16-0, I can almost taste it.

Yup, it's right. Trust me. :D

Totally agree w/this. This season is about 19-0 right now.

The Dolphins WERE a much worse team. But they are always included in the greatest ever discussion (with far superior teams) solely on the basis of their perfect season.

16-0 counts for a lot.

I'd trade 19-0 (including one superbowl) for two superbowls in a heart beat.

Of course 18-1 would be humiliating. For a very long time, people would talk about the great team that couldn't get it done. I'd rather be 17-2 than 18-1.
