Jolly old Bill? Really? Something doesn't sound right, that is not like him at all.

It was broadcast live on patriots.com. It will probably be up (on video and transcript) this afternoon. Also, check Reiss later on at boston.com

I think Bill regrets having to explain how his team is 11-0. As he said, they had the ball three times in the first half and scored 17 points. Also said, "we scored three touchdowns and had one called back."

Looked somber. Unhappy with the defense and general play, I assume. Also tired of having to explain how records don't mean anything in the NFL.

Re: BB's presser today - not happy

so in other words...he was the BB we know and love...great ! :)

Re: BB's presser today - not happy

How could he be.............. He has a kicker that kicked a FG that wasn't counted, and his best WR can't even ****ing fart in the general direction of a DB without being called for OPI. I'd be pissed too.

BB in a BAD MOOD

So say the guys on WEEI...the tone of this trascript says so.

Maroney mystery
Link|Comments (0) By Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff November 26, 07 01:16 PM

Laurence Maroney was a spectator during the first half of the Patriots' 31-28 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The second-year running back didn't take a single snap in the first half, as the Patriots stayed in a spread look that had third-down back Kevin Faulk on the field.

The Patriots, who threw the ball 54 times last night and ran in 16, called just one designed run in the first half -- Heath Evans' 1-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. They threw the ball 25 times in the first half. Was that the game plan?

"We had the ball three times in the first half and we took it down the field and scored ...every time," said coach Bill Belichick today. "We were in a productive mode. We were moving the ball."

Would he like to see more balance?

"I'd like to see us score touchdowns when we have the ball," he said. "That's what I like to see. That's what the offense is out there for -- to score touchdowns, to score points. That's the only reason they go on the field, is to score points."

But what about Maroney, who had all 10 of his carries (for 31 yards), including the winning touchdown, in the second half. Why wasn't he a part of the first-half game plan? Belichick pointed to his previous answers about the offense's job being to score points.

"I just answered that question," he said, when asked about Maroney.

In other news:

-- It seems pretty safe to say that Rosevelt Colvin's injury is to his arm and not his foot. Colvin left the game in the third quarter with what the Patriots announced as a foot injury, even though the medical staff seemed to be attending to his arm.

"It was announced as a foot?" asked Belichick when told of the discrepancy. "Then we'll leave it at that."

-- Belichick also said the team will make a decision tomorrow on wide receiver Troy Brown, who is still on the physically unable to perform list. With his 21-day practice window set to expire tomorrow, the Patriots must either clear space for Brown on the 53-man roster, release him, or put him on IR, ending his season and possibly his Patriots' career.

The HUMBLE PIE must have been thrown around the room today.

He should save a slice for McDaniels for not calling enough running plays ;) ...OK I kid...seriously, I kid...
Ducks head while the stones are thrown. :scared:

Is Maroney in the doghouse? That's the question the reporter really wanted to ask but didn't quite have the guts to say. BB would have found a way to ignore that question anyways.

Re: BB in a BAD MOOD

I don't read anything out of the ordinary in these excerpts. BB's comments seem no more irascible than usual. We already know that BB was happy after the game during his radio interview.

Would you please just STOP? Yeah, he's in the doghouse, that's why Belichick is saying he "loves Maroney" and wishes he had more guys like him on the team. I realize BB is full of misdirection and stuff, but I KNOW you don't honestly believe Maroney's in the doghouse but Belichick's trying to trick everyone by coming out with full-throated support for the guy. WE ALL KNOW you don't think that, so just stop with the spinning and the lying on this issue.

Re: BB in a BAD MOOD

More importantly, do the Patriots activate Troy Brown? I don't think he can be any worse at CB than Eddie Jackson, and is just as good a special teamer, plus can be a 5th-6th receiver at worst.

I agree, P. But who do we cut to activate him? I don't think that they'll cut Jackson. I would, but I don't think that BB will.

Re: BB in a BAD MOOD

Reads like just another fantastic interview with Belichick to me. :D

Interesting quandry with Brown. Seeing that BB didn't see fit to game activate one of his wide receivers last night, does BB need yet another wideout, and an aged one at that? Or does Brown really offer a viable alternative as a nickle back? If Blue is injured yet again, Troy might provide depth at nickle if he can still play at his age. This still leaves open the question of who do you cut from the 53.

31 yards and 19 yards. Clearly the reporter was commenting on Maroney's absence vs the Eagles with the title "Mystery Maroney". It's pretty easy to guess what he's thinking.

Mel Mitchell has been hurt/inactive the last few games. IR him and move Brown to the active roster. He brings more to the table than an inactive/banged up Mitchell, and it's not like Mitchell contributes more than Rashad Baker or Eddie Jackson if he isn't active over them.
