I assume he played last night since he wasn't on the injury report last week. However, why the hell was Eddie "I can't cover a grill" Jackson in the game filling in for Hobbs(when hobbs was temporarily out of the gme with injury) and not Merriweather? Weren't we working this kid out at cornerback in the preseason? The immortal Eddie Jackson is a better solution than Merriweather?

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like they are taking a long-term approach with him, kind of like with a 1st year QB. Let him learn and build up some self-esteem before putting him in game situations. And even then, control what he is exposed to.

I'm not sure why this is the case, but I don't get to see him at practice. I'm more of the mindset that you let people fail on the field and use it as a teaching tool. Interesting to see how this affects his development.

he's made of glass

he's a bust

he's a dud

puhleaze

I have been sticking up for his lack of playing time so far but this is getting ridiculous. Is BB trying to prove a point with BM because there is no way eddie Jackson is better than Meri after sitting on PUP all year.

why are you assuming a rookie safety (who played safety in college) is a better cover guy than a real CB?

guys normally dont convert from S to CB, since CB is a much harder position to play/requires speed/technique that most safeties dont have. if they were good enough to be a CB, they probably played CB in college.

CB to S is the more traditional route, for these reasons.

I think "Hit Stick" drew the block in the back penalty during the Pats last kick off to the Eagles. It's hard to believe that a 1st round pick couldn't have helped that defense last night.

We could've used a fast 1st rounder in the secondary last night.

he plays on kickoff coverage teams, and i saw him in on a couple series in the 4th quarter this last game.

Eddie Jackson was playing corner because he is a better corner than Meriweather, the slow-to-learn rookie safety. And yes, I think Meriweather will be fine, and eventually start at safety, where he is behind Baker in the depth chart.

Yes he got what looked like man to man coverage in the slot once Hobbs had to be taken out late in the game.

i think MGTeich got it right.

eddie jackson is a real NFL CB. why else would BB have given him a contract with him sitting out w a recovering knew for 8-10 games into the season? BB thinks he is the real deal and good depth

merriweather is a slow learner, most likely . (like chad jackson?) pats schemes are NOT simple. i think merri:singing: weather screwed up earlier in the year on his assignments, and now they are taking it real real slow w the guy

Ifyou read any articles or interviews you could see that he was very relieved to be worked at his regular position of safety again.

He's not a corner and his experience this summer wasn't great. When he plays it will be instead of Rodney or Sanders (who's playing great IMO).

My question is with Wilson. Why not work him at corner, now that he's lost the starting safety job? He's been a top corner before and he can't be much worse than Earthwind Jackson.

He's a real special teamer. zero ints and 5 passes defensed in 4 years doesn't make him an nfl corner.

Meriweather is a safety, period. He's been cross trained, but he's not a corner by any stretch of the imagination.

Wilson is the only available safety with a real successful body of work at corner (college while Jackson was an undistinguished s/cb hybrid).

Jackson is hoped to be the "big corner" replacement for Scott, though he's no 1st round pick.

Who's Brandon "Merriweather?"

Last time I checked it's Meriweather.

Spell his name right before you criticize him.

HE'S ON THE BIG BUST WAGON WITH MARONEY, JMO.

I think they probably figure the guy's week of practice either gives them a better chance (with him) or not. Apparently they have better options under Merriweather gets a grasp.

We haven't seen a lick of Chad Jackson or Kelley Washington either. This is a hard squad to crack.

You know after reading many of your posts, I think you should coach our team. You have all the proper solutions for your perceived problems that our team has. Ya right......

Ditto, saw him in there at the end of the game, too. Didn't really see how he fared, but not noticing him means he probably did his job.
