Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

We'll have to wait and see concerning the details, but isn't he still on probation?

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

It says "in the leg" so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

On Patriots Radio, they said he is fighting for his life and is in the hospital
He got shot in the femoral artery

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

Just heard on WEEI..."that he is fighting for his life". The bullet hit the Femoral Artery (please forgive the spelling if it's wrong). It sounds serious. :(

WEEI's saying it severed an artery and it's very serious. Sounds like a robbery, nothing he was doing wrong.

SEAN TAYLOR "FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE"

Redskins safety Sean Taylor has been shot in Florida, a source with knowledge of the situation tells us. He is in critical condition at a Miami-area hospital and, per the source, is "fighting for his life".

Taylor spent Sunday night in his Florida home with his girlfriend and infant daughter. A robbery occurred, and Taylor was shot in the leg by one of the invaders.

The bullet severed his femoral artery. He currently is in surgery.

Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2005 draft, was in Florida to get a second opinion on an injured knee.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Taylor, his family, and the Redskins organization, and we hope that Taylor will make a full recovery.

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

The femoral artery is THE main branch that feeds the entire leg. A person could bleed to death before very long if it is severed. Say a prayer for Sean Taylor.

Yeah, usually a blood loss issue with femoral artery injuries. High fatality rate if the blood flow isn't mitigated. That artery is the 2nd largest in the human body.

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

Jeez, who would have thought getting shot in the leg could almost kill you. I need to watch House more.

That's just horrible. Hoping for the best for him.

Yeah, the only artery worse to severe than the femoral is the aorta in the heart.

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

Holly just told Vince (he did not know), Vince was shocked. Says he is a "reall good dude".

Vince is really shaken up over this.

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

Wow good luck to this kid.

I hope everything stays in high hopes, this is not a way to go.

Re: OT: Sean Taylor Shot per CNN

<pedantry>
The left ventricle pumps blood out of the heart into the aorta. A tear of the aorta is often--not always, but often--fatal.

In terms of bad things to happen, the carotid arteries might actually be worse than the femoral arteries, since they feed the brain.

Yea, heard that too, kinda wish Dale and Holley hadn't done that on air.

My wife had her femoral artery severed years ago, and while she fortuately lived, the loss of blood killed off the muscles in her lower leg, and she has no movement below the knee.

I hope Sean Taylor recovers, but his playing career is definitely in jeopardy. Obviously, that's unimportant now.

Yes, I meant contributing to blood loss fatality.
