Don't jump all over me, b/c I do think that Tom played well from what I could see. But do you know how he often has a 3 or 4 INT game every season? Could he be playing so well this year that his "really bad" game means he only threw one TD and no INTs? I mean, relatively speaking, this game was that much worse than his average games this year.

So that means next week he could have a huge bounce-back game... meaning 5 or 6 TDs.

This is just in fun...

I think it was more like the O-line's stinker. The receivers didn't even have enough time to get open. The pats changed Welkers route to just short passes, and starting using some screens and we were able to score.

Ummm, no INTs and 380 yds is hardly a "stinker", but I get what you are saying. Perhaps it was on the 1 TD pass and the 90 passer rating.

unfortunately i don't think this was his stinker. the eagles pressured him, made him throw on his heels and took moss out of his game. some of his passes to welker, under the circumstances, were brilliant. so, no, he didn't stink the place up at all. in fact, he made it happen when he had to.

hope Honkers is treating you well.

Wouldn't that be nice?

Certainly prefer last night's game to last year's Miami in Miami game. Now that was a stinker.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, let's hope this is Brady's low point of the year, like last year's Miami game.

I would agree with the offensive line's play not being up to grade. What was with the false starts, especially when you have 3 and 1.

Could have been his most impressive performance yet. How many 3rd-and-longs did he convert yesterday? It was amazing, and he earned every inch of it. The Indy game was way more of a stinker, but their D made it tough all day just like Philly.

Ok, jus tin fun, I jump all over you. A bad game is against Denver in the playoffs, a bad game is against Miami in their stupid orange uniforms. Last night was a tough game and the QB persevered.

I dont' think we've seen a stinker yet. The stinker game results in a loss almost by definition since Brady goes downhill as the game progresses. The Indy game was a potential stinker but Brady stayed in control. Last night was not Brady's best but the game never got away from him.

I had a thread several weeks ago asking if Brady was "immune" to the annual stinker game now that he has the weapons. I think he is immune now, but just because of his own growth and experience.

"Stinkers" typically are in games that you'd never suspect. Indy last year, KC in '05, the woeful Fins in '04, Buffalo '03 and GB at home in '02.

No way, not a stinker. With any other QB, we lose this game folks! Brady was awesome last night and I'm with Felger, it cemented his MVP award this year.

Watching ESPN this morning, they said out of his 20 incompletions, he threw 3 bad passes, one to Stallworth, one to Moss and one to Welker. 5 throws were throw aways - 3 to the sidelines and 2 outside the endzone. The remaining 12 passes were all catchable dropped balls. The WR's were concerned with getting hit rather than making the catch. The Eagles put heat on them and they felt it and it hurt the passing game.

Also, don't forget, Brady and Moss got royally screwed on that TD! That was number 40. If even half of those 12 drops are caught and Brady gets that TD, his stats look AWESOME: 38-52, 2 TD's, 0 INT's and over 400 yards!

Brady had an excellent game while getting the shiat kicked out of him. He stood there and made the key throws even while dealing with getting pressure on virtually every drop back, no running game and Matt Light's unforgivable false starts!

If this game does not prove that he is the MVP of that Patriots, no game will. You can take out Moss, and we will, but without Brady, we get killed last night.

I have to agree with this post.

The O-Line, and both tackles in particular, got thrown around a lot. Not exactly 'best of all time' stuff. Just typical of our O-Line in general in most seasons other than this year, where they have been mostly great.

The WRs didn't have a great day either.

The running game was good when we didn't need it, and not great when we did need it.

Brady was his usual self.

A good serving of humble pie all around.

And the defense SUCKED. But I think the game plan was part of that. There was no adjustment to take away the middle of the field. That is partly coaching.

Without the bullsh1t pass interference on Moss, and with a couple more key catches, the game would have been much different however, so let's just be glad we won a close one.

On the contrary, I thought this was one of Brady's better games this year. Most average QBs can sit back and find an open receiver if they have no pressure on them (as Brady has had in many games this season). It is quite another thing when you have pressure on you from the get-go, plus a vicious hit right off the bat, and still have an excellent day passing. In years past when there was lots of pressure and no running game (Miami last year; Pittsburgh in '04) Brady was often rendered ineffective. Last night he still had a great game - no ints and two TD passes (the call on Moss was completely bogus), plus over 300 yds. passing. Granted, his weapons are better now (thank you, Wes Welker), but even they had a few drops last night.

Unfortunately, the annual Brady stinker is still lurking somewhere in the future. Hopefully it comes in the regular season against a crappy opponent rather than in the playoffs against a quality opponent! ;)

i think the eagles rushers had the pats line worried

I agree. It's all relative, but it's hard to call this stinker and not just average.

I see where you're going with the Stinker line ("only one TD...how un-Tomish"), but I thought he played outstanding last night considering how well Philly's D played the Pats' spread formation.

If Philly was someone like Miami and Brady only throws one TD while routinely missing open guys despite having all day to throw, then I think that would fit the type of stinker you're implying.

Regards,
Chris

I think this has been echoed in other posts/threads but Belichick stuck to his guns last night and it ended up paying off, no matter how painful it was. He wasn't going to let Westbrook beat him, he was going to make AJ Feely beat him. Not as bizarre as Phillips saying that he was going to make Tom Brady beat him.

It was like a game of chicken between Belichick and Reid - Reid wanted BB to lay off Westbrook but Bill wasn't flinching. So Reid let Feely do his stuff and eventually it led to a costly error.

If it was his stinker, then he's in a pretty good place right now.

I get what you are saying, but Brady's "stinker" would be better compared to the Cincy game. Brady was on against Philly, but the OL didn't play so well and Philly's defense was very good.
