There is a conspiracy against Moss. A few days ago, an article in SI criticized Randy by saying, that he does not deserve to be considered for MVP. Randy was being set up. These kind of negative articles have psychological effect on Refs.

Not only that but, the holding call on Washington on teams, I played back 10 times. It was another non-penalty that was called just for the sake of being called.

Obviously it was a bad call on Moss. I look at it as a makeup call; Moss does push off at times and this ref obviously went into the game looking (wanting) to call it. Seeing his hands in the body area he threw a bad flag based on reputation. As long as it's not ongoing, it sucked but we squeaked through.

Guys put hands on each other all the time. Typically, some arm extension is required to draw a flag for offensive PI ... except, apparently, for Moss.

I don't think it is so much the "extension" than it is "creating an advantage". I think if the ref feels like the contact gave the player an unfair advantage, then he's gonna get flagged.

If you are going to call it that close, call it consistently. Why doesn't Moss get called for it all the time and not just on sideline TD routes? Why didn't the Eagles TE get called for it last night? Why doesn't TO get called for it?

The answer is that Moss has a reputation for pushing off on that specific route. The refs are making calls on what they are expecting to see...not on what they actually ARE seeing.

Speaking of gaining an advantage...did the Eagles' DB gain an advantage by holding Moss' jersey to the point where it was pulled off of his shoulder pads? I don't think anyone wants to see a penalty on every play. Just be consistent so that teams can adjust and compete on a level playing field.

Randy Moss always puts his hands out, but I really don't see it as trying to push off or otherwise gain advantage. He is just trying to figure out where the defender is and most importantly to keep the defender from putting his hands on him. That kind of hand-checking goes both ways. All the defender needs to do is get a small piece of Moss' hand to disrupt the catch--I think you have to let Moss defend himself.

Anyway, it was a terrible call. As bad as it is to call defensive PI and give the team the ball on the 1--it's worse to take 7 points off the board! The ref better be DAMN sure that Moss pushed off if he is going to make that call and for the second time this season there has been a phantom offensive PI against Moss.

Mike Periera is so incredibly biased. If the referees called nothing, and they asked him about this he would say the contact did not affect the play and the receiver is allowed to check the defenders position without shoving him. Since the ref's made the call he will say that this is contact made by the receiver and is the correct interpretation of PI.

Well, it's taken at least 14 points of the board based on 2 phantom OPI calls (1 in Indy, and the one last night). Granted he was called on it (deservedly) in other games, but these two were total blown calls.

I'd say that since its happened 2 times in the last 3 games, it's become on-going.
