Our offense was good tonight

We tried to score on our first seven drives tonight (then we ran out the clock) with the following results:

3 TDs
1 FG
1 Missed FG
1 Punt
1 Turned over on downs

This is more than 3.43 points/drive.

Our season average of 3.80 leads the NFL (through week 11). Dallas was second best with 2.76. (I'm using data from FO).

Without the phantom offensive pass interference call on Moss we would have had 4.43 points/drive, an utterly dominant offensive performance.

If fault must be assigned for tonight's performance (which WAS ultimately a victory) it should go to our defense. The offense appeared to be a whole lot worse than it actually was.

I agree...Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown both played great games. I'm not concerned about the offense. The defense on the other hand obviously has some issues.

I agree...Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown both played great games. I'm not concerned about the offense. The defense on the other hand obviously has some issues.

Shepard, Brown, and Dawkins are all pro bowl DBs. So one lesson that other teams might get from this game is to get pro bowlers in the secondary. Without that ...

50% TD scoring rate + ZERO turnovers == exceptional offensive performance.

Our offense should be this effective every game.

And all those drops during the 3rd quarter. Those would have lead to points. But I'm not complaining...the Pats won (barely)

The D did not play a "good" game; you are correct. But the one thing they did well is force the Eagles to rely on A.J. Feeley to beat them by throwing to recievers other than Westbrook.

The one problem was that Feeley actually showed up tonight, unlike the other 6 years of his (at best) mediocre career. So give some credit to the Eagles O. They played out of their minds tonight. 9 times out of 10 (or more) the Pats win, and we did tonight. But just because they played outstanding doesn't mean that the Pats' D sucked. They were OK. Feeley just beat them in some spots that realistically no one would have thought A.J. Feeley was capable of.

They also played at a much higher level than any other NFL franchise has on average over the course of this season.

You can't look at a performance like that and say "they didn't execute".

We only won by three points because of problems with our offense and special teams. The offense did its job.

It wasn't fantastic. When Brady gets sacked 3 times, including the pummeling he took in the first half, it's not fantastic.

But I agree, in the end, it did its job. No doubt about that.

The receivers dropped a lot of balls tonight, and the offensive line was as bad as it's been all season. On top of that, Brady and his receivers were not on the same page on several occasions tonight.

Play calling and running game. It was NOT smart to only call 1 run 1 DAMNED RUN in the entire first half. I don't care if its 80-20 pass, at least run the ball sometimes. Our offense was completely one dimensional and even worse, the play calling was horrible. Probably close to 90% of their plays in the first half had an empty backfield! It is giving WAY to much away.

Yeah, I was looking at his passer rating at 88 or thereabouts in the 4th quarter and thought that this was one of his better games of the season. Nothing was easy, the deep stuff was taken away, they didn't establish a run game; it was all Brady getting the ball into short zones to predominantly Welker and Gaffney.

We measure professional athletes based on how they compare to their peers.

If a baseball player hits .400, this is fantastic because no other player has done this in decades.

If you see a .400 hitter, and you start complaining about the bad pitches he swung at, then you have lost all sense of perspective.

Over the course of this evening, the Patriots offense performed 20% better than any other NFL franchise has over the course of this season. In what universe is this not fantastic?

The team played good tonight but there is always room for improvement. Now I know that this the highest scoreing offense in the NFL, but passes were dropped and the O-line looked weak the defense as a whole needs to improve a little but not by much
