Does anyone think mcfadden would be an upgrade from maroney, i do because i think from what i see mcfadden explodes through the hole. Maroney go's up to the hole and stops. Can you see our offense with mcfadden.

"SIGHS"
I give up the Mcfadden talk will not cease till after the draft.

Thank goodness we were able to get another Maroney/McFadden thread here tonight. The main board looked barren for the 0.4 minutes it was without one.

It's November, no?

I didn't know the Superbowl had been won yet.

We could trade our pick to dallas for one of they're picks and marion barber.

We don't need McFadden.

Sammy Morris and Maroney are a good 1-2 punch, and they don't involve taking another supreme risk on a college running back.

If BB grabs McFadden I'll be shocked. I say give up your fantasy pipe dream because McFadden is a low priority compared to depth in other places.

Agreed. Maroney and Morris will get the job done...

Anyone who continues to pretend Maroney is at this point a #1 running back is just being a dillusional homer of magnanimus proportions! I totally agree with the original poster about Maroney stopping in the hole or at and behind the line of scrimmage. Total indecision is making Maroney less effective than Kyle Eckel.

I'm definately torn on this issue. If you look at Maroney's overall body of work, it's pretty decent. Not top 10 RB productivity, but pretty decent That being said, the injuries, and Maroney not running hard, make him tough to stick up for. The last few weeks, I definately have felt more comfortable with Evans and Eckel running the ball, and Morris was definately the better back when he was playing.

In defense of Maroney he's only 22, and the offense doesn't seem geared towards running. Now, is it not geared towards running because Belichick isn't thrilled with Maroney's production ? Who know's, I believe collectively we have the #8 rushing offense, so that's pretty darned good, but in a cold wintery playoff game, can we depend on the running game ? Can we depend on the running game to run out the clock if we (god forbid) are in a tight game like last years AFCCG ?

I really like McFadden, but I think this team has more pressing needs. Linebacker is definately a top need (Laurenitis ?), DB may be a top need if we don't resign Asante Samuel. That being said, if Run DMC winds up a Patriot,
the rest of the NFL would shudder. I wouldn't mind the suggestion by someone on this thread, trade our #1 to Dallas for their highest #1 and Marion Barber, though Dallas knows what they have in Barber, so I bet they wouldn't fall for that.

The same way Caldwell and Gaffney got it done??

Maroney is injury prone, Morris' injury knocked him out for the year.
That doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
I suppose as long as we can cart them out there, they are gonna play?
Let's be realistic.

I don't see how we can pay both mcfadden and moss.
I say we trade down and maybe pick up a solid vet(maybe LB or CB) and get a later 1st rounder. RB's wear out faster than any other position.
One thing we all know...BB will do what is best.

Sure we can. They play 2 different positions :)
As for the salary cap, I'll let the capologists answer that question.

very good point
why settle for effective, when you can attain greatness
of course now that san fran won another game they shouldnt have, we might not be in posiiton to even wonder anymore

Maybe. But it might be a good thing. If McFadden drops to #4, the money is even more palatable. If McFadden does not last until #4, I will have no problem with whoever the Pats think is the BPA at that point.

After watching the Pats pathetic run game, or lack thereof vs the Eagles, I am definitely getting the feeling that RB is a need.

Who are ahead of the SF pick right now?

1. Miami - Ronnie Brown
2. Jets - Thomas Jones
3. Rams - Steven Jackson
4. Patriots (via SF) - Maroney

The only threat in the top 3 to take McFadden is the NYJ, but we know how bad their brass is. They'll likely bungle the pick, given half a chance. Like the way they drafted a tight end instead of Dan Marino. :)
