On any given Sunday anything can happen...

i voted option n.2 : 'probably but not a sure think' but i would love the Pats
play a perfect season - i admit it

Go Pats !

I voted "No Chance." How can you have a perfect season when you've been caught cheating? Perfection has no "*" next to it.

imho the Pats were not cheating but it was only 1 case (as far as i know) in the first half of the first game of the season

this is what i feel

anyway: compliments to BUF - **** Jauron has been fantastic till now with all those injuries - you hv been the best Afc East Team excepted us

To be precise it was less than the 1st quarter of the 1st game of the season.

I voted "probably, but not a sure thing."

I will say though that if the Pats beat the Steelers and their record by that point is still undefeated, then the Perfect Season looks seriously real.

And neither does this season... Unless you talk to other tools such as yourself :D

just to bring some math into this thread.

we would have to win 9 more games. of the 6 remaining regular season games, 4 figure to be gigantic pointspreads:

Philly
NYJ
Miami
Baltimore

lets say the Pats have a 95% chance to win each of this.

the other 2 games are against the NYG and the Steelers, which will be slightly harder. lets say we have a 90% to win these 2 games.

then we have 3 playoffs games.

lets say its home vs steelers, home vs Colts (with Marvin, Ugoh, etc) and then neutral field vs Dallas or Green Bay.

call those 3 games

90%
75%
90%

multiply those all out, and you get a 40% chance at 9-0. I don't see anyway at all we are a coin-flip to go 9-0. we are a smallish underdog. the majority of people here answering "probably" either are hopeless homers or need a math lesson :)

The odds are with the Patriots according to Las Vegas

At the beginning of the season you could bet $100 to win $270 if the Pats had a perfect season. Typical odds fo the best teams in football with the odds against them.

Now you need to bet $160 to win $100 if the Pats have an undefeated season... meaning the odds are with the Patriots.

Football Outsiders has the odds of going 16-0 at 32%

I think that's reasonable. 19-0 relies on so many things: the team continuing to play 100% for every game, BB not pulling crucial starters, teams watching game tape and not working out ways to stop the offense (don't rule that out; we don't have a monopoly on great coaches), injuries and so on.

It's also worth bearing in mind that we were five points short of losing to Indy, who outplayed New England for close to three quarters of the game. The Pats are not invincible.

I, personally, would find it unforgivable if BB left Brady in to go for 19-0 (say, in Week 17) and he got injured. I'm also pretty certain he would be very p*ssed off with himself if that happened. Winning the SB with a poorer regular season record is much, much more important than chasing 19-0.
