New England will never pick #3, they will trade down into that latter part of round 1 and pick up some other picks.

James Laurinaitis is listed at about 9..no way they take him at 3...besides they wont draft an lb. unless its LT or urlacher.

you want dorsey? he has been injured all year. qb miami? heck miami might try and trade down.

wouldnt be surprised if pats look for a TE again. maybe an off lineman.

I don't include trade downs, that's too confusing and that's not how you do a mock.

Laurinitis is the best linebacker in the draft and that's where the Pats should go. I can't name 5 players better so I don't care who ranks him at 9, they're wrong.

Dorsey is the 2nd best player in the draft and fills Miami's biggest need. We just took a QB in the last draft in round 2, why would we take one this year?

ok..if beck works for you. dorsey if he stays healthy seems very good.

One QB in the first round?? Not gonna happen.

Also, there's no way Atlanta takes Ryan if Petrino is still the HC. Brohm's his guy.

Actually, I see 3 QBs in 1st round.

What about WR Crabtree from TexTech?
6'3'', 222lbs.

125 recs., 1861 yds.

Unless he dissapoints at the combine, he will be a 1st round pick.

And RB Rice from Rutgers could be late 1st, early 2nd round.

Tough call right now. Given that I would pick between Long, Laurenitis and Jenkins; although the available names fail to excite me right now, McFadden and all the QB being available would lead to a good chance at a decent trade down I would think. Worst case for me is McFadden being gone and all the QB tanking in workouts. You don't have LT Michael Oher as available but if he comes out I like him better than Long and he would be intriguing.

crabtree is a freshman, or redshirt freshman.

There were only 2 QBs taken in last year's first round. This is my way of saying the QBs are over rated.

Of that group I'd go Laurinitis. Jake Long is over rated and was completely owned by Vernon Gholston. Malcolm Jenkins is a BB type player, physical, strong and wants to hit. McFadden is a wildcard, I still think the Pats need to go after a line backer.

Gholston ate up schilling not Long. Only lined up over J.Long a couple of times and did in no way own him.

That might be true, but there are enough teams with horrendous QB play to jump at the opportunity to draft Ryan, Brohm or Woodson in the first round.

That was my idea as well but I went to the best player available approach for the most part. The only exception was in extreme cases for example the Patriots wouldn't take a QB if he was the BPA.

QB this year is very deep. Even a guy like Ainge would be the 3rd QB taken last year. This year most likely sixth. If Oakland wants McFadden they have to deal with us to get him. Laurinaitis has measurables but he's no top three pick. New England doesn't draft LB on the first day. I would rather they put Alexander in at ILB next season over these ILB in college.

Ainge in the 6th round? I'm saying early 2nd for him, we must be watching a different player.

There's no reason Lauinitis can't be as good as A.J Hawk, that's why I have him top 3.

You need to read what I wrote. This year he will most likely be the sixth QB selected. 1 Ryan, 2 Woodson, 3 Brohm, 4 Henne, 5 John David Booty, 6 Erik Ainge, 7 Colt Brennan. Last year Ainge would have gone ahead of every QB not named Russell and Quinn. Only he's the 6th best QB this year. All of them drafted within the first three rounds as well.

As for Laurinaitis I don't care if he's as good as AJ Hawk. He isn't coming to New England unless it's to visit Cape Cod. He isn't the third best player in the draft next spring. First round material sure, just not top five. If he didn't go to tOSU he wouldn't be nearly as "talented".

1. Miami- Glenn Dorsey DT LSU

I didn't think he looked great against Arkansas.

2. NY Jets- Chris Long DE Virginia

I don't see why people have the Pats or Jets taking him to play in their 3-4. He's too small to play an end and I cannot see taking a conversion this early.

3. New England- James Lauriniatis MLB Ohio State

I'm still not convinced they take a LB on the first day and I cannot see it this high.

6. Atlanta- Matt Ryan QB Boston College

He's going to be a project. His ceiling is fellow alum Matt Hasselbeck and it took Hasselbeck a long time to get there.

9. Baltimore- Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State

Be interesting to see what his combine is like.

10. Kansas City- Vernon Gholston DE/OLB Ohio State

Like him a lot

11. Carolina- Dan Connor OLB Penn State

Way too high.

12. Chicago- Quentin Groves DE Auburn

I think he'll drop too.

15. Denver- Keith Rivers OLB USC

Denver loves LBs like Rivers.

26. NY Giants- Ray Maualuga ILB USC

I bet he goes back to school.

27. Jacksonville- Mario Manningham WR Michigan

If this is their pick he'll fit in with their other first round WR busts.

Dorsey ... a 6'1" short armed tub with a high motor who only runs a 5.1 40.

Wilfork checked in at 15 lbs and 1" more than Dorsey ... ran a 5.2 and plays the nose ... Vince was picked 21st.

I find it hard to believe Dorsey could be a better NT than Wilfork.
There are many DL's, DE's, and OLB's better than Dorsey in the NFL now.

Anyone who wastes a top 10 pick on him is a complete moron.

He's a top 3 pick based on hype IMO.
