OT: Could the Packers beat the Patriots?

I don't think they crack 21 points against us honestly. I like their receivers but they can be shut down long enough to get a lead. Their defense is based on pass rush and I don't see it being better than the Colts pass rush. Favre will make mistakes as we all know. Do you think BB can't confuse Favre? Last season their Oline couldn't handle our guys.

Let's see how they handle the Cowboys first.

I don't think we can claim that anyone can beat the Pats right now. Can it happen? Yes, but can we anoint one specific team the boys to do the deed? Not likely.

With that said, I like the way the Jacksonville Jaguars match up with New England. They are the most physical defense in the leauge and that's how you neutralize a big play offense like NE. They need to get Mike Peterson back before they play though.

I voted yes only because it is possible...of course it's "possible". Especially if someone gets hurt. Seriously, no team will ever be IMPOSSIBLE to beat.

Have you ever seen Marcus Stroud and John Henderson compared to a regular sized man (for example a trainer?) Those men cast the largests shadows I've ever seen, not two boys I'd want to see in a dark alley.

We've played them a couple times over the past couple of years and never had a problem beating them. And they had those guy on their D-line at the time.

Carolina's D-line can match the Jag's as well, don't you think?

Yeah that's a good point. I've always been a Jacksonville adovate simply because of their style of defense. Even if the Pats beat Jacksonville by 20, they're going to wake up on Monday and know they played them because they'll be sore. Reggie Nelson has been nothing short of awesome for them at safety and with Rasheen Mathis on Moss, I like their chances more then most of locking up #81.

In the past yes; but right now Carolina's DL has been horrible. Kris Jenkins doesn't dominate like he once did and is Julius Peppers even playing this year? He and Taylor have been major disapointments at DE.

Size, not athletic ability, coachability or intelligence is the criteria you judge D players??? This team does pretty well against most D lines, whether they be big or fast this year. Dante Scarnecchia has done a tremendous job with the O line and the Zone Blocking schemes.

All I'm saying is I like the matchup the Jaguars present the Patriots.

Could they? Sure...any given sunday, right? Will They? Now that is a different question. That answer is no....

The Packers would have the best shot at knocking the Pats off, I think, but they won't make it to the Super Bowl. Favre's gunslinging will do them in before that.

Despite their record I've not been overly impressed with the Packers. It's so hard to judge these NFC teams because that conference stinks from one end to the other. IMO the Cowboys are a much better and far more dangerous team. Patriots would romp against the Packers.

Jacksonville has zero chance of beating the Patriots. Green Bay and Dallas likely have the best chance, though Green Bay would be a long shot. The only teams which deserve any kind of consideration must have a good offense to stay with them. That would rule out Jacksonville (and likely Green Bay.) I really think it comes down to only Dallas and the Colts; and I know the Colts won't beat us. The NE-Dallas Super Bowl is going to be huge! They do have a real shot at beating us next time (but they won't!)

Anyone has a shot. Even Miami could beat us. It's not likely but it can always happen. I'll wait until the Dallas game before I crown Green Bay. If they beat Dallas, I'll worry about them.

They are very good. The Packers have averaged 33 points a game in their past four, so they can score enough to stay with the Patriots. That will be the key to playing with them or beating them since they will get theirs.

This is funny. I like the Packers (family ties), and I think they're going to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, but to point to how many points they've scored in their last four games and conclude that, because it is in the thirties, they can hang with the Patriots is laughable. Given this past four game stretch, judging by averages (a very silly thing to do), the Pack would still lose by 10+. It's all well and good that they average 33, but the Patriots average 45.

If GB and NE meet in the SB, the Pats IMHO will avenge their SB XXXI loss without much difficulty. Favre has been pretty fortunate his multiple-INT performances didn't cost him any games this season so far (except vs. Chicago where they have their only defeat). But if Brett throws at least 3 INTs against this Pats defense, I am more than confident the turnovers will be converted to Pats TDs making GB's victory chances much more difficult.

The most sure bet in the NFL is that Favre will have a 3+ INT game that sends the Packers home in January. It is a lock.

Before it even gets to that, he's probably going to have a 3+ int game against Dallas next week which will end any talk of them being a Super Bowl contender.
