I know the Dolphins really don't stand a chance, but who do you want to see win Monday night. I always stand behind the theory that anything can happen (who figured the Jets would beat the Steelers). In a sick kind of way, I hope Miami beats the Steelers.

Re: OT Dolphins - Steelers

A dolphins win helps the Patriots in two ways - A) it's a step towards having the #1 overall pick in the draft and B) it's a step toward securing HFA throughout the playoffs no matter how much of a given that seems to be now.

A dolphins loss does nothing to help the team. As a fan it's hard to not wish for them to go 0-16 though, just because of the shame it would bring down on an AFC east rival.

Still at this point I'll be rooting for the Dolphins.

A lot of people here need to watch John Beck and listen to Jaws when he speaks of him. I don't think there is a poster here that respects Beck and that's ludicrous. Also, need to watch Ginn and see just how far he's come as a wide receiver. All of his catches last week were over the middle where he supposedly couldn't go according to most.

Dolphins over Steelers! At least that is my wish. I think the Steelers might be reeling a bit after last week. They have been beaten by too many bad teams and it has to be causing them to question themselves.

I don't have respect or lack of...I admit, I haven't followed the Phin's too closely this year. I'll take your loyal Dolphin fan word for it though.

Fair enough, check out the game on Monday and you'll see what I'm talking about. Ginn has been open ALL year and watching Cleo Lemon underthrow him was as painful as sliding down a razor blade into a pool of lemon juice.

I've watched Beck play in college and last week. Not impressed. I don't see it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see him ever being anything more than a run-of-the-mill Jake Delhomme type of QB. Not trying to talk junk, but that's what I see. Miami needs to draft Dorsey and start rebuilding that defense. Taylor still has a couple years left and he can really dominate if he had a guy like Dorsey drawing double teams. I don't think Miami is as bad as their record. I can see the Fins challenging to go 8-8, 9-7 next year with a really good offseason.

Smoke:

As a Pats fan, you ABSOLUTELY should be rooting for the Dolphins.

Why?

Pats fans want the 49ers to have the worst record in the league so we get the #1 overall pick in the 2008 draft (San Frans' traded to New England) and can lay a big, wet metaphorical fart in the face of Roger "Has anyone seen my Richard Todd jersey?" Goodell.

Imagine Goodell, the ultimate jealous Patriot-hater, having to step up to lectern and announce:

"And with the first pick of the 2008 draft, the 2007 undefeated Super Bowl champion Patriots pick Darren McFadden, running back, Arkansas."

The teams standing in the way of this quest are our two old enemies, the Jets & the Dolphins, along with Atlanta, St. Louis, Cincy & Oakland.

So, we basically want to see these 6 teams keep winning, while San Fran keeps losing.

San Fran, @ 2-8, is 2 games ahead of the Dolphins, but they're still pretty bad, having lost 8 straight after opening 2-0.

Additionally, a Dolphin win over the Squealers not only helps the 2008 draft cause, but it also helps our 2007 playoff cause, as we need the Steelers and the Colts (and Jags, too, I guess) to drop a few down the stretch, just to firm up our home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Pittsburgh, Indy & Jax are the only serious threats in this area.

So, as much as it pains me to say it, "Go Dolphins" and "J-E-T-S-, Jets, Jets, Jets"...

What's Beck's MO? Does he make all the throws with the big arm, or is he more known for good vision and reading of defenses?

Is he a scrambler or pure pocket guy?

I could never cheer for the Dolphins. Now even more with them having their own version of a "perfect season." As much as I want to see a team go 16-0 in a season, I want more than anything for a team to go 0-16, and it would be even sweeter if it was a division rival.

We can take care of Pittsburgh ourselves in a couple of weeks. It depends on who we want to get the 2 seed. If we want Indy to get the bye, then cheer for the Dolphins, but if you want the Steelers to get the bye and Indy to play Wild Card weekend, then the Steelers need win this weekend to keep pace.

I'm rootin' for the Jets and the Dolphins.

My dream scenario:

1) Pats go undefeated.

2) Roger Goodell has to hand the Vince Lomardi trophy to Bill Belichick.

3) In April, Roger Goodell has to throw up in his mouth a little bit and say, "With the first overall pick in the NFL draft, the New England Patriots select....."

Sorry Aqua, I don't feel its ludicrous for anyone on this Pats board to not have the level of respect, you deem warrented, for any of your Phins players. Why don't you chastise your fellow Phin fans?

I think we need to be a little careful what we wish for. Due to the rookie salary structure, the number 1 pick in the draft is not all its cracked up to be. Look at last year. Oakland had to shell out a 30 million dollar signing bonus to JaMarcus Russell. Look at the money that San Fran is paying Alex Smith. The amount of money that teams have to shell out, diminishes the value of this pick and there is no garauntee there will be other teams eager to trade up. I don't think there is any rookie in the draft that the Patriots orgainization is willing to pay that kind of money to.

Maybe they'll draft a projected 2nd round LBer with the high pick causing Goodell to spontaneously combust. :D

He's good at everything and carries an exceptional arm and even better accuracy. He surprised me with his mobilty last week and disapointed me a little on his ability to make throws under duress. All and all, he'll be just fine.

I'll bet that in a year or two we'll see Aqua Boy in the middle of a Glenn Beck interview looking like this...
