This reminds me of something Seymour said after the Minny game last year. He basically said that they weren't surprised that they dominated because it was an NFC team.

Yeah except any Pats player would understand that saying this would only help the Eagles and wouldn't have any motivation to go deep source on them. This isn't politics, this is sports. Unless Pasquerelli offered to sing the players praises in the future, I don't see why a Pats player would say something like this. Usually when a player gives another team a motivating quote like this it's in anger or by accident, it wouldn't be calculated like it would if it were deep source. Anyway if Pasquerelli starts lavishing bizarre praise on, say Ellis Hobbs or someone in weeks to come then maybe I'll believe it, but until then ESPN has given me no reason to trust them whatsoever.

What does this even mean? Several players noted what? That one player termed coaching bordered on disdain?

Actually I can't get past the first sentence where several New England veterans yakked to an ESPN talking head.

I hope the Pats aren't just mindless robots who only do as BB says and don't understand why he tells them these things. If you're right then this kind of shows disrespect on the part of the Pats player who allegedly says this towards BB by undermining him. And again, why would they go out of their way to tell ESPN this quote anonymously? If they had let it slip I guarantee they wouldn't be given the option of anonymity.

ESPN writers hate the Pats and would probably love the upset story. I'm sure they want to cause as much inner turmoil to the Pats as possible and they have gotten scores of quotes wrong or out of context all season in ways which show a deliberate "disdain for the Pats." So I think the former is much more likely.

In the past, I would have been chewing my fingernails wondering how any of our players could have made such 'stupid' comments and how this is going to galvanise the opponents.

After spygate and the way most of the media covered us since then, my casual reaction has been: 'who cares'? I really don't and am happy that it feels so good and refreshing to ignore the rants of the mainstream media.

I have stopped reading and watching any sports website (other than this) or TV channel and am least bit bothered about what others think or report of us.

Ironically my lack of caring about this quote or the Gay and Brady misquotes reflects the tainted nature the Media's coverage of "spygate." I no longer trust them anymore, and I don't think many will give them the benefit of the doubt by believing "anonymous sources" who seem to say truly dumb things at the worst possible time.

Who cares what Drew Bledsoe, Corey Dillon and Antowain Smith say to ESPN? The only "veteran" Patriot likely to utter such an inane comment would be one who is truly a "veteran", as in retired!

This is sooo BS. If it were true he would have used the source. If a Pats player had said those things; off-the-record would be on-the-record as soon as his back were turned. Also, talking sh!t like that and then telling someone "This is between us" is kind of cowerdly. Most athletes mean what they say and say what they mean. Even if it's something dumb. You guys are deluding yourselves if you don't think that there are just as many bigmouths on the Patriots as there are on other teams. What separates the Patriots from other teams is that there is a culture of 'keeping your mouth shut' propagated by team leaders and the coaching staff.

I'm sure some dumb player has no qualms with saying how bad the NFC is under the protection of anonymity.

What I'm more interested in is why certain media folks seem to be scouring for anything they can use to pump up opponents. As a member of the media regardless of where my fan loyalties lie I'd much rather see a team go into week 17 undefeated just because of the buzz and the stories that could be written.

We're not kidding ourselves and the Patriots definately do not have as many big mouths on their team. I believe that is a well known fact that has been proven by their history. In order to have a big mouth, someone in the media has to know about it.

If you think the Patriots are just like any other team, you don't follow them too closely. They are and have been so different from any other team that they have been copied by many teams since 2001.

-Being introduced as a team for every game
-Everyone accepts the "system"
-No stars, just a team full of guys doing their job
-No one says anything critical of their opponents
-No one takes credit or blames success or failure on another teammate

Don't think for a minute that the reason all the trash talking and TD dancing has diminished across the league is NOT due to the example the Patriots have set. If you look at the above list, you have to admit most of it is being copied by opposing teams...especially when they are about to play us!

Colts players used to give us plenty of BB material, but haven't for the last couple of years for a good reason. And hey, they beat us a few times since they stopped too, so it must help!
