According to Felger there was a box of diapers in Maroney's locker today. He said nobody knew if it was a joke from a teammate or a message from the coaches.

Anybody else hear the story?

If true I think it was a BB as a message.

Re: diapers

Yeah I can picture Belichick ordering an assistant to put diapers in Maroney's locker.

Re: diapers

Hmmmm, wasn't something similar to this done to Larry Johnson early in his career before he began playing the way he was capable of?

Consider also that Maroney said that he wasn't aware of any any injury, yet he didn't see a lot of action against Buffalo, and none in the second half, and that's with an injured Faulk. Starts to make sense.

Re: diapers

Not quite sure I get it. Yes, I get Diapers=Baby but about what ? Not playing through pain ? A little whiny to the media ? Not hitting the hole hard ?

Re: diapers

I hope its true. Maroney needs something to kick him in the arse and get him going.

BB or locker room leaders.....either way is good for me.

I think for whining to the media Bfan.

Not hitting the hole hard...at least. He's so tentative at the line that he gives tacklers an edge on him all the time.

Re: diapers

Carefull, the Maroney rump swab sqaud will be throwing a massive hissey fit.

(Why do I believe anything Felgie says anyhow?)

Re: diapers

I've been supportive and saying give him time but if this is true then the message means somebody wants him to grow up and be tougher. I'm sure it extends to on the field and off.

Re: diapers

Whare's Parcells when we need him? Based on Maroney's prior quotes about not altering his running style despite being asked to, I think we have a glimpse of a problem. The good news is he seems to be a team player and willing to fill a role. Let's see if the kid can mature.

Re: diapers

That's a bit ****ed up if true. If it is then I can't imagine it being a cute little joke, some his teammates are pissed and are trying to send a message. Not sure if Maroney is the type to sulk even more or if this motivates him. Let's hope his production increases from this point on because I don't want to spend a top five pick on a RB.

Re: diapers

Just waiting for the Maroney/Pats homer brigade to come full force into this thread to defend their boy. Does it suprise ANYONE that there must be players and coaches on this team that are getting tired of Maroney always getting nicked up and failing to play thru pain? The guy runs like he has high heel pumps on. I applaud the coach or player that put the diapers in his locker. The guy is a baby and a BUST.

Re: diapers

According to Felger? What kind of access does the Cheesehead have?

He wouldn't just make something like that up as fodder for his radio show, would he?

I agree with your skepticism

Yup...I remember seeing him at Minn. and being SOOOO excited when the Pats drafted him. Combination of size, speed and a hardnosed running style. He needs to start plowing through the holes rather than prancing behind the line hoping something bigger opens up for him.

And yes, I realize he has a decent average this season. Just about anyone would when you have the air attack the Pats do.

I also caught that interview and remember thinking .........I cant believe what this kid is saying to the media..........not good.:)

Re: diapers

No No no according to the homers the pats LOVE maroney. In fact maroney is on of the best backs in the NFL. Just look at his ypc

Re: diapers

I'll say this....there's something funny going on with Maroney. To have him completely disappear for a half against Buffalo and then not appear on the injury report is weird. As others have pointed out, there is the interview about altered running style. I think there is a problem, maybe not a big one, but there's something going on here. It's just fortunate that we have the passing game to more than make up for it.

When the weather turns bad, Maroney is going to have to be the back he is being asked (and paid) to be. I hope he can step up.

Re: diapers

Belichick pulled Maroney vs. the Bills because of his poor play.

He also put the diapers at his locker.

Someone had to do it.

Felger is a contrarian who's always trying to stir the pot and play devil's advocate but I've never caught him in a flat out lie. This is not the type of thing you can say and then take back. He would lose all credibility if he did. I don't he he would take the Ron Borges career suicide pill over something like this.
