Jim Fassel and the ultimate WR

How is speed not a category? What about jumping ability? One of the main things that Brady has said about the ease of throwing to Moss is that he just throws it as high as he can and knows that Moss will come down with it.

Moss = best hands; he might drop one or two, but every receiver in the league does that from time to time. The difference, in my opinion, is that he comes down with catches that NO OTHER receiver in the league would have a chance on (the Indy catch, the elbow catch, etc). That has to be factored in when talking about hands.

Have you ever seen Larry Fitzgerald? He makes catches that just amazes me. I feel Fitzgerald is the best WR in the game today. Fitzgerald does not have the supporting cast like Moss, and T.O. has, and the QB either.

Puff and Pass bro. Fitz is good, but he may not even be the best WR on his OWN TEAM! :bricks:

Generally when Tom Brady says Randy Moss has the best hands he's ever seen, I'm going to believe him...

So that means he has the best hands, because he makes amazing plays?

And BTW, I would take Boldin over Fitzgerald anyway.

Lay down the pipe dude...

Why are you even comparing a good receiver (Fritzgerald) to game breakers like Moss and TO???

Three years in the league doesnt make someone a superb receiver...

2005 TDs = 10
2006 TDs = 6
2007 TDs = 4

This reminds me a month back when someone said Plaxico Burress was a better receiver then Owen or Moss...

Also are you saying Anquan Boldin is not a good supporting cast for the Cards??? sheesh...

this is my take on it......

Best Hands - Jason Avant
Best Route runner - Matt Jones
Strongest - Bethel Johnson
Smartest - Bernard Berrian
Toughness -Mike Williams

Hands: Moss(means acrobatic catches aswell)
Speed: Moss
Route Running: Holt
Strength/YAC: Boldin
Leaping Ability: Moss
Quickness/Agility: Smith(or Hester lol..)
Impact: Moss

Moss's quickness has been shown in route running but he hasnt done that much in openfield..i understand though hes being doubled and that limits YAC but hes big. A guy like Steve Smith will flat out juke u with the ball in his hands

I agree that Moss is easily the best route runner. Ive never seen a receiver that sets up his cuts with the route PRIOR TO making the cut better than Moss.
The other thing I've seen from Moss, on deep balls, is that he fakes out the DB with how he goes after the catch. There was one pass early this year that was thrown to the outside. Moss stayed straight in line, then when the ball was coming down, reached far out to his right to grab it. The defneder may have gotten in position if Moss drifted toward the ball, but had no chance the way Moss played it.
I'd also give Moss the best in the category of attacking the ball in the air.

Are you talking about the one against the Bills in the first game we played them? Where he was kind of like an NBA center and boxed out greer with his body staying inside and at the last possible second stretched his arms out fully and caught the ball with his hands. Greer played it great but unless he was as tall as Moss, it was impossible to stop. It was amazing on so many levels.

I'm not saying Boldin is a bad WR, but I feel this Fitz has the best hands, and Hines in my mind is the strongest WR in the NFL. I do believe Troy Brown ifs the toughest WR in the NFL. Smith is the best route runner, and Holt is the smartest WR. That is my opinion.

I am shock that people don't believe that Fitz is the best WR in the NFL. If I had to take a WR first, it would be Fitz.

Andre has had some durability issues. That is why I have problems putting him in.

What about Driver or Jennings in GB

Or Braylon Edwards

Javon Walker? Reggie Wayne? Roy Williams? Ocho Cinquo or Housh?

I'd think about putting Marvin in for route-running, but forget about smarts or toughness. The Indy offense is all about timing and being in the perfect spot every time, that's a testament toward route-running. In the same vein, that says very little about "smarts." They run the same offense every week with very little change. I think we all know he's nowhere near the "toughest" player in the league, especially when he's missed five games this year with bruised knees. :D

I wanted to post Edwards in here, but he has not had a strong career. wayne is just a biproduct of the Colts system. Driver is an up and down WR. Jennings is iffy as well. Ocho Sinco is God like in his own fantasy world. I like Housh, but not sure if I can put him in the 5 topics.

Ward is nowhere near the strongest. Maybe 1 of the best blockers but strongest as in outmuscle people for yards? no way

Anquan Boldin..go watch him ..look at some highlights. the dude is a monster.

and the poster above that..Andre Johnson is my favorite WR in NFL but he doesnt have a top trait yet. Hes very good..a top 5 WR in NFL but hes just a complete WR with strength, speed, and hes a playmaker.

I go to all the Cardinal home games and watch them on TV....when they don't conflict with the Pats of course....and I can say with extreme certainty that IMHO Fitz is not even close to the hands that Moss has. Very good receiver and a really good guy, but no....he doesn't have as good a pair of hands as moss does....nobody that I have seen does.

The poster (Remix) who talked about strongest receiver and mentioned Boldin is absolutely correct....he is, again IMHO, the toughest/strongest WR in the game today. One of the Cards best picks ever.

Cards have plenty of Offensive talent. They just don't have Tom Brady........ and they make too many mistakes (i.e. penalties). Give them another year in the NFC and they will be right at the top.

I'm sorry, but Harrison isn't even close to being the toughest WR in the league. The guy always falls down rather than make any contact to gain a few extra yards. If you want tough, look at someone like TO who went against almost every doctor's order and played Super Bowl 39 with a broken ankle. He's a d---, but he's pretty damn tough.

Yeah he gets tired scoring against the Patriots. 4 TDs in last two games up in Walpole. I mean Foxboro.

what has he done in playoffs?

i recall him and colts getting tired of Law abusing them

I'm not knocking him down for what he has done for the Pats. And he is going to win a Super Bowl ring this year, but I have a problem with putting him in any of those spots. Steve Smith is the best route runner that I have seen in a long time. Hines Ward is real strong, to which I feel as a WR, the strongest in the NFL.

You need to watch Moss more. He is in a different league running routes.

Yes, yes, and yes. I COMPLETELY agree with this post. Harrison has even mentioned in the past that he'll avoid contact unless he's going for a first down or touchdown. Is he a smart receiver for this, possibly lengthening his career by avoiding big hits and injuries? Certainly. Does this somehow make him the 'toughest'? Absolutely not.

And T.O. is a physical specimen...speed, size, he has everything. Coming back from that broken ankle and playing the way he did...well I'll just say that I didn't like him before that display, but I definitely gained a huge amount of respect for him by the end of that game.

Marvin Harrison the toughest?! haha, thanks for the laugh.
