If the Raiders release Lamont Jordan... [mergedx2]

Re: If the Raiders release Lamont Jordan.......

I've been thinking about this scenario for several weeks now. The problem, though, is if a team claims him, they're only on the hook for this year's salary, which isn't prohibitive. There's no way a team in the AFC is going to allow him to go to the Patriots.

The Raiders were in first place in the AFCW, and Jordan was leading the league in rushing. He got hurt, got benched, and I don't think the Raiders have won a game since. Very curious.

Yup, he's supposed to be 100% recovered from the back injury, but they've benched him. Kiffen gave some excuse about the running game not clicking with Jordan.

I think he'll clear waivers, and hit the market. He's had a few injuries lately, and the Raiders benched him, so I don't think anyone will want to pick up the remainder of his contract. Instead they'll all hope to be the team that signs him on the cheap, and if he doesn't work out it won't matter. That's if the Raiders do in fact release him, lol!

Lamont is a player I always liked, and he seems to have the type of ability that could fit in with the Patriots.

Am I wrong, or is the team only on the hook for this year's pay. They can release him after the season, right? Starting next year, his salary is something like 4.7 million, but for this year it's only 1.8, and that's going to be Prorated to about 40%.

Or is the entire contract guaranteed? That would seem strange.

Re: If the Raiders release Lamont Jordan...

He mucked his back up bad vs. Miami and hasn't been running hard at all ever since. He started the Titans game, looked awful, then Fargas spelled him and looked so much better. It's been Fargas' job since then.

Back injuries can linger and affect a guy's play a whole season. An injured Jordan might be no better than Corey Dillon at this point.

Regards,
Chris

You're right. Only have to pay him for 6 games. That's it.

That's why I think some other team will pick him up.

Of course, if he plays well, whoever picks him up can decide to keep his contract.

Re: Lamont Jordan to be possibly be cut

Would the Pats want him? IIRC the reason Oakland hasn't been thrilled with him, apart from effort and so forth, is his poor pass blocking, a must for Pats backs.

Raiders may cut Lamont Jordan

Unhappy with being benched for the last two games, Oakland Raiders running back Lamont Jordan asked the team to release him this week, and team may grant his request according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

According to the Chronicle, Jordan told team officials Monday he wanted out after being benched the past two games, a source familiar with the situation said on the condition of anonymity.

If the Raiders decide to release Jordan, they won't have to look far for a replacement. They must activate rookie running back Michael Bush by 1 p.m. today or place him on the season-ending injured reserve list.

Do you think we could pick up Lamont Jordan off waivers if they do cut him? I don't think anyone here thinks we're not in need of RB's, although a number of teams would have higher priority w/ waivers than us...

Would anyone here want him?

Re: Raiders may cut Lamont Jordan

if lamont jordan comes to the pats and performs very well... i will call the oakland raiders the New England farm system...

Re: Raiders may cut Lamont Jordan

lamont has talent but they didnt wanna cut him and replace him with Michael Bush because they thought Chiefs would go after him

Re: Raiders may cut Lamont Jordan

I actually should have done more research before posting this. Since posting this, I've been reading up on it for the past few minutes, and it looks like they IR'd Michael Bush about 2 hours ago, which means its quite unlikely (although not impossible) they'll cut Jordan.

Apparently they were worried about KC getting Jordan.

Re: Lamont Jordan to be possibly be cut

Where are the Patriots in waiver priority? I would love bringing him in.

Is this a trick question?

Todays injury report didn't list Maroney or Faulk and Reiss said they were both present at the media portion of practice. So if they are ready to play, I don't see the Patriots going after Jordan at all. If Jordan is cut/released then he's a UFA. UFA's don't have contract's. Only da Raiduhs would have his bonus on thier cap, but a new team would do a new deal.

His last 3 years have been better then any of Morris' stats wise, why not.
