I found it interesting the Patriots used a 4-3 base for two games in a row. It got me thinking that while the 3-4 will be the base grouping more liberal usage of the 4-3 allows them to target a more traditional college MLB.

I am not saying they should draft a 225 pound LB on Day 1 but... maybe they could find one on Day 2 who could play special teams and then come in as a pass defender on 3rd downs (or over top of a TE). If this is true there are far more options at LB than the big beefy 250+ pounders we typically look for.

Besides someone has to replace Izzo. Generally I have skipped over anyone who weighs less than 235, I may start to examine some Day 2 gems who are 220-230 and fast 4.65 or less.

just fyi, BB really liked Vilma and Sims draft day. both were picked ahead but smaller, faster guys.

I know there have been reports that they liked these guys but I thought it was more of a smoke screen. The year Vilma got drafted I think they liked DJ Williams, Williams is 20 pounds heavier and just as fast as Vilma. As it turns out Denver took Williams just before the Patriots picked and my some miracle Vince Wilfork fell to the Pats. Damn that was good luck.

Sims is quite a bit bigger, he weighs almost 250 but I am not sure they would spend a #1 pick on a player who may have to be used in a sub defense.

Clear needs at CB and ILB, should be interesting.

That's a good point. J Leman plays well at Illinois. He doesn't look as big as his listed ht/wt though. If he were at Ohio St or PSU he would be listed much higher.

Edit:He may also be very slow.

Getting ready to draft Dorsey :

Warren/Wilfork/Dorsey/Seymour

Now that's what I call a 4 man line :D

Hell yeah! And they could put AD on the line for a better pass rush.
Although I realize it won't happen - I think AD would make a good MLB with those four beasts in front of him. He has the size, speed and smarts.

Warren/Wilfork/Dorsey/Seymour
Vrabel/Thomas/Colvin

Can you say FRONT SEVEN ?

Sims is 225..230 max
Ernie Sims..thats who im talking about

I didn't think it would be possible, but i'm ALL FOR drafting Dorsey and going 4-3 next year. Our front 7 would be DEVESTATING no matter how Coach Belichick decides to use them. The better pass rush we could create would/could cover any issues with our secondary should Asante not return.
