Re-confirming their well-earned reputations for reaching ever new lows...

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/20/sports/football/20fans.html?hp

"At halftime of the Jets’ home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, several hundred men lined one of Giants Stadium’s two pedestrian ramps at Gate D. Three deep in some areas, they whistled and jumped up and down. Then they began an obscenity-laced chant, demanding that the few women in the gathering expose their breasts.

When one woman appeared to be on the verge of obliging, the hooting and hollering intensified. But then she walked away, and plastic beer bottles and spit went flying. Boos swept through the crowd of unsatisfied men.

Marco Hoffner, an 18-year-old from Lacey Township, N.J., was expecting to see more. Not from the Jets — they pulled off a big upset over the Steelers. He wanted more from the alternative halftime show that, according to many fans, has been a staple at Jets home games for years.

“Very disappointed, because we’re used to seeing a lot,” Hoffner said.

Boring team + drunk fans = very poor results.. thank god I am a Pats fan.

Stay Classy, Jets fans, stay classy

Wasn't there a recent survey that concluded that the "Fan Experience" at a Jets Home game was the worst of all 32 teams? :D

I think they should stop serving beer in the stadium like they did a few years back. Those losers don't know how to act at a football game. That being said, I wish Kraft would let some rowdy fans into Gillette.

Jets fans can't call Pats classless

Apparently, they have a different idea of a halftime show, verbally harassing women on the spiral ramps at Giants Stadium. I know plenty of fans in every stadium behave poorly, but this looks awful compared to what I've seen at Gillette.

Edit: now, if you're talking the old Sullivan Stadium, you've got a point, but much of that's been cleaned up.

Re: Jets fans can't call Pats classless

Security and the attitude seems to think that this behavior is allowable. The problem is this kind of mentality can too easily lead to one of these women being more than verbally harassed.

Re: Jets fans can't call Pats classless

And the JEST continue to show their class:

Throughout halftime, about 10 security guards in yellow jackets stood near the bottom of the circular, multilevel ramp, located beyond the stadium’s concourse of concession stands and restrooms. One of the guards was smoking a cigarette; many fans do the same during halftime on the giant ramps, which are located at each corner of the stadium. Another guard later said they were not permitted to do anything about the chants at Gate D because of free speech laws. Yet when a reporter tried to interview two security guards after halftime, he was detained in a holding room, threatened with arrest and asked to hand over his tape recorder.

. . .

Denisse Rivera, a 23-year-old from the Bronx, was on a first date Sunday. When she arrived at the crowd at Gate D, several men pointed at her, signaling men at all levels to chant in her direction. After a brief moment of hesitation, she flashed them. Then she took a bow.

“I don’t care,” Rivera said when told that video clips of previous incidents, taken on cellphones, ended up online. “I love my body and I like what I have, so let everybody share it.”

Two security guards soon approached Rivera. The guards warned her about indecent exposure laws, she said, and let her go.

Apparently, when not cheering injuries on their on QB, the Jets neaderthals have been setting up a gauntlet for the ladies remanescient of the Navy's Tailhook debacle.

I dub this scandal...... "JetHook".

Renters should behave better!

As someone who in 1985 watched shirtless drunks get into fights at old Foxboro Stadium over the "Tastes Great/Less filling" chant (seriously, two "tastes great" guys got offended at a "less filling" guy, sought him out and started pounding him) and got doused with cheap wine upon a Pats conversion of a fourth own (spilled when the crowd rose up), not to mention the idiots who ripped down the goal post and took it to the parking lot, neglecting to notice the power wires overhead and almost getting electrocuted, I say "not again." :bricks:

That was all during one game, BTW: http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache...o+fans&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=safari

Louder, more enthusiastic, great. Rowdy? No thanks.

New York fans are arrogant punks. They think they are all bad arses but they really are a bunch of punks. If it wasn't for the Yankees, they wouldn't have anything to hang their hat on. I feel bad for New York women, but then again they always have me to cheer them up when I'm in town. :D

What ever happened to just smoking a joint during half-time at the Jet's games?

That's pretty classy.

Look....... you people know me, I'm a classy person {snip}........ and they showed no class, absolutely no class...........

AND MAYBE IT COMES FROM THEIR HEAD COACH

:singing: :bricks: :singing:

You know, looking back on that whole LT thing, it's amazing that got turned into the main story that week, instead of the Pats' great playoff win. :enranged:

edit: and, oh yeah... jets fans still suck.
