Could we trade picks with the Vikings?

Had an interesting thought:

What about the SF pick for the Vikings #1 and Chester Taylor? There's a lot of equal value all around with this idea. The Vikes need a young QB to complement Peterson, and even though it's nice to have your #2 rb be a #1, it's expensive and unnecessary. They could take Brohm or Brennan, we get the mid-round pick that we want, and a very good running back in our lineup.

Maybe this didn't need another thread, but I can't see why this couldn't happen.

WE DON'T NEED A RUNNING BACK. WE HAVE ONE. And by next year, when Morris returns, we'll have two.

Many possibilities...we also need a young ILB...and other things..NOT a bad idea though I am sure the first of many "what do we do with teh pick" threads..

The value of moving from the SF pick to the Minn pick will be immense. If we end up 2nd, and the Vikings are 12-15, say, it would probably be their 1st, 2nd, and 1st the next year, plus something. Chester Taylor doesnt add up to that.

So let's say a 1st and 3rd with Taylor.

And we sure as hell do need a running back. I came into this season a huge Maroney fan but I've had enough of him. He has bad instincts. Period. If linebackers weren't crapping themselves worrying about Ben Watson and Sammy Morris, he'd be averaging 3 ypc.

I'm sorry you have no sense of anything that is actually going on on the field. BB and the staff like Maroney very much, from all reports. He has looked very good while carrying the ball this season. I don't know what you people are watching or expecting.

I'm watching a guy dance along the line and show poor field vision.

I'd take Taylor for Maroney in a heartbeat.

With the kind of downfield coverage the Pats are seeing week in and week out it's absurd that he hasn't ripped a long run. Absurd.

I think you, like many young "fans," assume that if a guy ever gets caught behind the line it's because he's "dancing." Sometimes it is. Sometimes it's on the OL - as it was at least twice last night. But you guys have written your book on Maroney, based on SOME dancing from last year (and very little this season), so there it is - he dances along the line and has poor field vision.

Amazing.

Taylor reportedly has character issues. He has had run-ins with teammates, and reportedly is a real jerk.

That said, Randy Moss shows sometimes guys have bad reps that don't deserve them. Taylor is talented, but I'd want to be sure he wouldn't spoil the great chemistry the current Pats team has.

we have the 4th best running game in the league. There is a lot more to having a great running game thna just a great back. A lot of it has to do with the O-line.

We need to trade for a running back or draft one. The reason is simple, this team just can not score points.

I would not want to do this trade. Eckel and Evans are ok as backups. Both play Special teams(I think). I am not opposed to drafting a midround pick on RB if the brain trust feels we can improve the depth of the position, which I think we most definitely can. Certainly not a priority at all.

Exactly, some of these fans truly amaze me, as I believe a lot of them have no clue what they are talking about half the time.

They don't I swear some people just see something written or said enough times that they start to believe it over what they are actually seeing.

Chester Taylor? Are you serious? You would move down 5-10 spots for Chester Taylor? It is bad enough you want to trade down for an RB when we know Morris will be back next year, and you want to do it for Chester freaking Taylor?

Thank God your opinion has no impact on what the Patriots do.
Chester Taylor over Maroney is ignorant.

Agree with Andy Johnson. Im sure BB will look to upgrade and improve every postion if possible. If a good RB is available in mid rounds I am sure we will pick one to add depth, etc. People forget quickly how well Sammy Morris looked and his injury is not a torn ACL. He has an injury that needs time to heel but should be 100% way before the spring. I would take our current RB's over most in the league, especially the AFC East.

Have you watched Buffalo play this year - other than last night - when they have started their #1 RB?
