Could some of you college football watchers compare him to someone in the NFL, please. How good is he? Is he as good as Peterson? I am not a college football watcher so I would appreciate your opinions.

Your thoughts?

He's halfway between Eric ****erson and Maroney.

That's what my take is, believe it or not.

The kid is a downright STUD. He will be a home run hitter in the pros. A threat from everywhere on the field. Believe it or not, he reminds me of LT. Not body shape wise, but game wise. He plays quarterback on plays for Arkansas and throws for touchdowns on sweeps just like LT. He can outrun ANYONE. Blazing speed for a running back and he is a big boy, 6-2 215. I think he will be a force in the NFL. He is also an excellent pass catching RB too. Explosive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APEFj8Glx7Q

I do not watch college FB, but I can share some personal opinions. I think that you should not sink a ton of money into any unproven player. It's just unfortunate that with the draft, you HAVE to spend a lot of money on high picks.

I think all the Patriots really need is a guy who can pick up blitzes and is decisive hitting the holes. The O-Line will make them look good no matter what. I would trade the pick down from #2 if they get it that high.

If he is on the board when this pick comes up, we grab him! No doubt in my mind. As it stands today, Miami takes a QB and then it is our pick and we grab this sick RB who is highly highly ranked. A rare find. If we lose the spot and get the 4th or 5th pick and McFadden is off the board, we trade the pick.

he is 2nd on his team in yards per carry, and the other guy has over 100 carries and 1,000 yards.

the hype of McFadden is >>>>>>> McFadden

And then he gets hurt and we've got tens of millions sunk into a mediocre RB. Ki-Jana who? Cadillac who? Every Bears RB drafted in the last 15 years?

RBs just aren't worth it with a high first. They're probably not worth it with a first in general.

Your right. With our luck he'll turn into a friggen Laurence Maroney and we'll be stuck with a player as mediocre as Glass but making 3x the money.:D

I love when I hear sanity take root in these discussions. Running back is a position that just isn't worth investing such a high pick and so many guaranteed dollars into in today's NFL. If we take the pick, we go after a stud defensive player, like say Calais Campbell, but I think there's little chance that happens. It's far too beneficial to trade down, save the money, grab extra picks and restock multiple positions.

Absolutely agree. Upright, great long speed but not overly elusive. He's a better version of Chris Brown. He is not the talent that Peterson is.

If he's on the board when the Pats pick, they trade the pick for a first and a third this year and a third next year.

RBs don't provide value if their contracts are high and saddle the team for the length of their ridiculously high contracts by preventing the acquisition of multiple players of skill and value.

IMO, we can get more than that for a potential 2nd pick in the draft.

If we magically transplanted our upcoming draft situation backwards in time 2 years, you would have been saying the exact same things about Reggie Bush. Bush has been good, but the only "great" connected to him is his marketing. Why would you have a reasonable expectation that McFadden would be any different?

And if you take it backwards in time 1 year and draft Peterson you have one of the best RB in football.

you mean, a good RB with a injury history who currently has an injured knee

Problem with that is there isn't 2 1st round draft picks worth 2600 points for the 2nd pick in the draft this year.

there is always the posibility of a 3 way deal

but yeah, it's more likely we get a 1st rounder this year and a 1st rounder next year

REad the CHFF...you don't need to have the best RB to win...you just need someone serviceable...preferably uninjured. Pedersen gets long runs...great, but Brady gets long passes more often so how much is he really adding? A guy who can consistently get 5 yards per carrs even on 3rd and 3 is worth a lot. Which is why Maroney is a little disappointing...

You have to draft where you have the huge gaps...it's better to be very good everywhere than great at RB and have weaknesses in the defensive backfield and MLB.

Besides how do you know which you're getting? Bush or Pedersen? It's 50/50? 8M per year for a 50/50 guy?
