SF gets the #2 overall pick in the draft
We get Indy's pick (#29 overall) + Patrick Willis
Let's trade the #2 for Bruce Willis and a Baconator from Wendy's.
Those are fantastic.

Recent #2s:
07 - Calvin Johnson
06 - Reggie Bush
05 - Ronnie Brown
04 - Robert Gallery
03 - Charles Rogers
02 - Julius Peppers
01 - Leonard Davis
00 - Lavar Arrington
99 - Donovan McNabb
98 - Ryan Leaf
97 - Darrell Russell
Bottom line - no surprise, #2 produces both its share of beasts and its share of busts. But how can you not trust Pioli/BB to get it right? If a trade presents itself fine, but as I said in another thread, you won't find me complaining about the Pats getting the #2 pick in the draft!!
You're talking about the chance to get a franchise player without paying the dues of sucking for an entire season. That's not something to take for granted.

Trade it for 1st and 2nd rounders this year and 2nd and 3rd rounders next year.
The Pats have proven they get better overall team value with later picks compared to the "stars" who come out in the first 10 picks of the draft. There was an article around the time of the 2005 draft outlining the draft positions, expected contracts, cap impact, and overall team value. The author made a rational argument that those picking from 15 and beyond received far better long-term value than those picking earlier. Picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds are gold in terms of long-term value.

Does anybody honestly seeing the Patriots paying a rookie the type of contract he's been led to believe he's entitled to by his agent, even if he is a #2?
I don't. They'll trade down and get great value with little down.
Who is going to trade with them? As others have said, they are pretty much "stuck" with this pick, a) it's a tough pick to get good value for and b) do you think anyone wants to trade w the Pats right now? Oh, the burden of getting the 2nd best player in the nation

dont sweat what those other people are saying about not being able to move that pick. probably the same people that thought it was nuts to bring in Moss, or that the team gave up too much for an unknown slot receiver. NE always has trade leverage when it comes to these situations. They can do whatever they feel is best. Believe me, theyll have atleast 2 or 3 teams lined up begging for that pick if they so choose. Pioli will do the right thing. Plenty of options.
Huh??? Where do people come up with these ideas? Hell yes some team that needs to make a "splash" will trade with the Pats if they can draft a QB or some other STUD and sell a boat load of season tickets, merchandise, and create a "buzz". Guys like Daniel Snyder from Washington would definitely trade up to get another STUD if it was a fair trade. What, you think teams trying to improve are going to turn down a fair trade just becuase big bad Billy Belichick put a spanking on their team? Please.
