Look at the film. He starts the game , runs poor, starts dancing, and does nothing. Gets pulled then is standing on the sideline with his helmet on. Never shown talking to trainers , nothing is mentioned. Later he says he is not hurt and is walking fine. Beli plays all his starters deep into games and Maroney is the lone exception. A guy that has not gotten a ton of reps this year? He got benched for his poor running last night. The saving him excuse is getting old. It is week 10.

Now before you jump all over me lets keep this thread civil. I do not hate maroney. I am disappointed in him. Someone answer me this... What has Maroney done since week 13 last year.Ill tell you.

Had major surgery

Did nothing in the playoffs

Missed a bunch of time due to injury

Has come out of several games early with injury. That or he was benched.

Scored one td over 10 games on one of the best (if not the best) offensive team of all time

Has failed to put together a big game

Has two receptions

Has done nothing in the red zone

Has yet to break it the secondary and take one to the house

Has been highly ineffective most of the time

Has had constant durability issues

If Faulk is hurt I am very concerned. This is a first round draft choice. A supposed feature back.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Re: Maroney got benched last night

He definitely didn't look like he was ready to go back in. At one point I caught him yawning behind BB.

Re: Maroney got benched last night

I was just thinking that we need another Maroney thread - and here it is :bricks:

Based on what? Not being a smart ass, but I just want to know what you base that on? I think the guy is fragile, doesn't hit the hole quick enough, runs too high, and has terrible vision. I see NOTHING he does that makes me think he can be great.

.

Damn! My TV is broken because I thought I saw Maroney score a running TD in the red zone last night. Probably some digital signal processing artifact.

I saw him yawning also. Man oh man I hope this kid gets it together.

Re: Maroney got benched last night

I think Morris, had he not been injured, would be our feature back at this point.

You mean thru the same holes that Kyle Eckel and Heath Evans were running thru and looking like superstars? Please.

Re: Maroney got benched last night

thank god Maroney got benched last night. that game had blowout written all over it from the opening bell. Laurence Maroney had no business being in that game whatsoever. he got his TD. great. mission accomplished. now, sit him and let him watch with the rest of the crowd while our boys dominate another team by over 40. sorry guys. weve lost one RB already, and Faulk went down last night also. no need risking your starting RB when you can dominate teams without him.

Your argument is flawed. If that's the case, than why not sit Tom Brady?????? Do you honestly think we would be better off with a Cassell-Maroney combo than a Brady-Faulk combo????? Please. Stop making excuses for this kid. He got benched because Belichick is tired of this kid's running style and inability to hit the damn hole.

the Brady - Cassel skill gap is enormous

there isn't much of a gap between Evans, eckel and Maroney. Any of them will do when we're up big.

Did you read his quotes earlier about his running style - basically saying the pats knew about his style when they drafted him and he sees no reason to change. He does not run with conviction and appears to be scared of contact. Trade Dallas the our #1 pick for their back.

go be a knucklehead on someone else's time. but please. dont bother me.

Correcting a deliberate mis-statement of fact. Here's a clue, polemics don't advance an arguement.

That's a little of an overreaction. BB yawned as well, I guess he wasn't ready to coach last night?

I don't really see how yawning on the sideline shows you aren't ready to play or coach football.

Re: Maroney got benched last night

I yawned last night and i wasn't injured.

Well there goes that theory.

I'm glad i could help sort this out.

Don't bother you? I can't debate you? Sorry, but I thought that was what message boards are for. Then again, I also thought drafting 1st Rd running backs was to get players that can CARRY THE LOAD!

Re: Maroney got benched last night

are we really breaking down the yawn watch in these blowouts now? can we not just enjoy every single aspect of this legendary season without picking apart every perceived weakness. criticizing this team at this point is like criticizing Sophia Loren for farting when she was 12.
