I hadnt seen any discussion on this in here though i may have missed it...

My friend made the hypothesis that Belichick sat AD for a big chunk of Colts game because he was none too pleased w how AD carried himself in the public back and forth w Ray Lewis the week before. I had not seen any reporter suggest this link so far, but it makes a ton of sense to me as a theory.

1. I bet BB tells players at the beginning of the year, that if they dont behave like Patriots, they will not play, or worse, they will be gone.

2. It just didnt seem right that AD wasnt blanketing Dallas Clark like he did for the Ravens last year.

3. AD didnt seem hurt, since he was playing a decent amount on special teams and even in the 4th Q on D.

Reactions?

Funny how Rosie said after the game that AD was dinged and it was good to have him at 100%.

Wasnt the comments made during the Redskins week??

mods i need a bs flag icon

if really think BB would reduces his chance of winning for off field activity let me say you have no clue what he is here .

As if you have a clue for everything....

It was just a theory for goodness sake. No need for you to get so high and mighty. And FYI - BB has benched Seymour and others in the past (for not more than a quarter though) for reasons that he felt were best for the team.

This was discussed at length after the Colts game. There did not seem to be any reason other than scheme and rotational needs based on it. What BB does sometimes doesn't seem right to us mere mortals at the time, until we realize it worked (and even then some of us can't get over how unright it seemed...).

There was nothing un-Patriotic about AD's comments, it only seemed that way because Ray over reacted when the media used a snipet from an article out of context to prod him while he was in the midst of throwing his own under the bus anyawy (a bus he is liable to drive over them repeatedly this week).

Reality: NO!

Let's merge this with the AD is a bust thread.

I actually think the thread author is making a valid point. I thought the same thing as I watched the Colts game being played.

I declare this thread mainstream and valid!:D

don`t take it seriously i was just kidding. But on the other hand i am curious to see if any HC will bench players for off field activity. If he would have recruited meariweather, randy moss, corey dillion, roman phifer.

Lack of smiley made me think you were serious. Thanks for clarifying.

You do raise an interesting query and I purpot that BB/Piolio screen thru the guys carefully and take a decision based on what really happened as opposed to what's reported on the press. It is my belief that they do take the players with whom they are convinced that are guys who will follow the Patriot way (examples being Dillon and Moss). So, IMO, 'normal' Patriot players are not expected to be caught up in any negative story that slurs the team and the name of the organization. What if they do? I am afraid that I don't have a good answer.

Top off my head, I remember two cases: Ty Law's problem with the drug authorities a few years back and recently Rodney getting caught using HGH. Rodney was benched based on the league ruling; would BB benched him more had the NFL suspended him only for a game? Don't know. Forgot what happened in Ty's case though...
