I have to say, that was the first FULL Steeler game I've watched this year. All BS trash talking aside. I have to say, I was shocked at the deficiencies I saw in the Steeler defense. I do still think they are decent team, but unless they fix some fundamental things, they will not go very far.

Your right, the only thing that I can think will be a positive thing about this loss is that maybe the coaching staff will address the needs at O-line, lets hope something can be done or we are screwed when the playoffs begin. Anyway good luck with the Jills lol

Is there any depth there to address it?

Glad to see you stopped by it's never easy after a big loss.

The thing is, this may be the best we have got. I always thought that they were talented guys, but they just havent been able to work as a unit so far, this has been the one problem that I have been worried about.

I hate to say it but you do know that evil genius BB lost to the Jets last year if it's any consolation

Thats exactly right, I still feel the Steelers can be contenders, but they have GOT to get the fundementals down. They have to get sharper and crisper, defensively they are pretty solid. That damn o-line though, that needs to be adressed or we are screwed.

Haha yeah. If we can beat the Colts and the Jets can beat the Steelers then you guys are definitely numero uno in the afc hands down. Romo and Favre are too inconsistent for a SB win so I see NE going all the way. Kudos to you.

Is this thread about the Steeler team that lost to the Jest today? They must now have an better advantage because they lost.

Yeah I know, but the Jets were a playoff team last year. This year the mad scientist lebeau couldn't stop them even though they are one of the bottom feeders.

it's not Lebeau's fault the Steeler o-line couldn't block the league's worst pass rushing defense. giving up 7 sacks to the Jets is downright pathetic.

this is true. I just wanted to mention "the mad scientist":) I just hope they can get their act together before the playoffs. The way I see it is that the steelers have the talent to compete with anybody, they are still lacking the consistency to put away teams that they should beat.

Hahaha! Wheres jimmysmokescrack? The supposed "elite" faltered to the frickin' JETS! He was talking all kinds of trash and does not return after the embarrassment. Take your lumps cracky!

I'm here to take my lumps. Pour it on. It was an awful loss.

Welcome back. As long as fans from other teams come back after talking some smack I don't rub it in.

Tough loss I'm sure your team will see better days.

Ugly...that's all I can say. The Steelers aren't playing with any intensity these last few weeks, their O-line is getting owned, and special teams is making way too many mistakes. This team is definitely capable of playing at a much higher level, but if they don't get out of this funk, December 9th (and the rest of the season!) is gonna get ugly.

The playcalling was horrendous too. Taking a knee with a few seconds left in regulation is the equivolent of either giving up, or telling the other team that you don't respect them enough to put you away in OT. Either way....a BIG mistake! They should have taken a shot downfield. Might get lucky and get into the endzone, or at least draw a pass interference call in field goal range. Since the game can't end with a penalty, you might as well take a shot! Also, I was disappointed on 3rd and 13, they call a draw play? In OT? You gotta at least TRY to get the 1st down!

Steeler football is all about establishing the run early in the game to open up the passing game. This hasn't happened in the last few weeks, which seems to send the Steelers in a tailspin. I love Willie's potential to take it to the house every time he touches the ball, but they really need a big bruising back that can get the tough yards and wear down the defensive line, thus paving the way for fast Willie to do his damage. I've been complaining since the preseason that having Kreider (a fantastic run blocker) sitting on the bench is a HUGE mistake. They have enough weapons with good hands with Ward, Holmes, Washington, and Miller! Let Kreider make some room for your RB! He isn't the same back without him this season.

It was definitely a tough loss, but I expected some growing pains with a young team and a new coach. Hopefully they can turn things around and at least make the December game in Foxboro interesting!

Have you been reading every Pittsburgh homers comments? This is the textbook ignorant Pittsburgh fan's opinion. Way too many people in Pittsburgh thing we need a back over 250. Not true. The truth is our offensive line is embarrassing. They have been on a steady decline for a couple years, but the national media is just starting to catch on. The line is a combination of aging, once-great linemen, and a couple guys in the prime of their careers who should retire becaue they are that bad. We have ONE young linemen with some potential for the future. The rest offers little hope. This off-season will take a magic act to reconstruct this mess.

All that said, the overall team is still good. The line is just the weakness. We still have the number two ranked rushing attack and I have no idea how. The 2005 Steelers were having line problems as well but pulled it together in the stretch. The 2006 Colts were having defensive problems, but also pulled it together. It will be interesting. I still have faith.

Is Hines Ward playing hurt? He looked awful slow, and couldn't get off the ground. He needs to drop about 30 lbs, or better yet, retire.

And I'm not just saying this because he's a douchebag. Honest.

Corn, I haven't seen the Steelers play a game,I've just seen high,or low lights. But it seems to me that they play DOWN to there level of competition, or come out flat sometimes. They're going to have to over come that some how, which can be hard because its something they can't practice like tackling.

You have faith?! Wow. That's great. So do I, but that doesn't mean that there aren't MANY problems that go beyond the offensive line. In my opinion, YOU are the "ignorant homer" here. Every Steeler fan and their mother is crying about the O-line right now, after that embarrassing loss to the Jets. Why not jump on that wagon to explain it?! I'm not saying that their O-line ISN'T a concern, but it certainly isn't their ONLY one! Hey, I like Parker too, and yea...he's having a great year, but watch the games and tell me he doesn't get stuffed too regularly at the line! Of course, alot of that can be blamed on the line, but let's face facts here. Parker is a small, speed back. His frame isn't designed to push defenders back and get the tough yards! His stats are good, because in most games he'll break a long one, but in the games that doesn't happen his stats look mediocre. I'm not saying he shouldn't be the starter in Pittsburgh, because he IS a threat to break that long one at anytime, but they could use a big bruising back in those short situations when they just need someone who can move the pile. Parker doesn't offer that. Davenport is a start, but he's not the answer.

There's nothing wrong with being a homer, which I definitely am. But an "ignorant" homer?! That I am definitley NOT!
