As of today we are at number 2, do you guys think we trade the pick or select someone? If select, who do you guys think we would take? Personally, I think BB trades the pick for a boatload of picks.

Your thoughts?

Re: Draft at number 2

I was thinking about this today, maybe they can trade it right back to San Fran for a #2 this year and their #1 next year.. do not see SP and BB going after a top 5 pick.

Re: Draft at number 2

WOW
It may end up 3-6 at the worst I believe. Not bad.
Its to early to wonder what we do but its better than the 16-20 we all thought before the year started.
Wow again is all I can say!

I almost want to cheer for the Doofins at this point. Imagine the EFF-YOU that would be for Goodell to hand us the trophy and then watch us pick first. Too rich to dream for. :singing:

I see what you're saying about the #2 pick being too expensive, but why get a boatload of picks if we're not going to have that many roster spots available?

I see us trading back to the 10-15 range and picking up a #1 in 2009.

Re: Draft at number 2

DO WE REALLY HAVE THE #2 PICK? Holy crap!

Re: Draft at number 2

We are definitely trading the pick ... hopefully we get a sucker like when the Bears traded all their picks to get Ricky Williams.

I would think we can get much more than that. Plus I don't think 9ers will be this bad next year, jmo.

You could vary the picks for different years so we could stay on the dynasty run for years. WOW what an f'ing thought.

Re: Draft at number 2

And don't forget Oakland lost again so we have a high 3rd rounder too.

Right now no one in the top 10 excites me. Dallas is the only one with 2 1st rounders and I don't think they trade up. Hopefully a team in dire need of a QB will trade up and well get a #1 in 2009 and a top 15 in 2008 with and other 2nd rounder.

Re: Draft at number 2

Until the Juniors declare and the combines/workouts happen, it's so hard to say. Right now Glenn Dorsey and McFadden are the two I see a team wanting to trade up for. I think Jake Long will be in the lower part of the top ten.

But right now it's like me asking one of you guys if you want to buy my house for $300K - you'd say : "um, I have never seen the house".

How do you figure #2? Miami is winless, but there are four teams with 2 wins, including the 49ers.

Wow that would be a stupid trade. Trade the #2 pick and only pick up a 2nd rounder?

9ers have the weakest schedule which is the tie-breaker.

Re: Draft at number 2

i wanted the jets today for pick and also to shut some steelrs up and hoge :(

Re: Draft at number 2

It's fun to think about though, jmo.

Ummm, you mean the Saints.

Re: Draft at number 2

OK, long way to go though.
There is but with SF just losing to 1 win St. Louis and a couple weeks ago losing to 3 win Atlanta, there aren't a lot of winnable games for them at this point.

We already traded ahead to the next year twice in a row--in in the case of 2007, we traded a #3 too in the process of punting on the entire weak draft class. This is what you trade ahead for, to find yourself with a rare high pick in a draft class you like. Not to say they should pick top 5, but maybe 6-12 plus maneuvering for several other picks in the top 75. Load up on quality, not quantity.
