thats right for all you nonbelievers, i said it, and u can bank on it (i think)...

this is the game which will mark the beginning of the rest of maroney's career...

this is where we do not see a kid plagued by injuries, it is not where we see a dancer instead of a burster, this is where we see potential before our very own eyes...

stay tuned, and you will watch the best runningback in the NFL....as there will be no doubt to that statement in 2 yrs time....

but all good things begin somewhere, tonight is where Maroney, the true Laurence Maroney will be unleashed....

prepare to be delighted pats fans....

prepare to fall prey to misfortunate timing Bills fans...

And to what do you attribute this sudden change of character and pattern?

change of what? 4.7 is very good ypc avg..he'll get more carries tonight.

i already predicted 100 +

As soon as I posted the "running style" post I had the thought that he could have a breakout game tonight.

Of course the game plan always rolls out a surprise or two, right? If you are asking me (but you're not) I think **** Jauron is a smart guy but will key on the receivers a little too much. I think they're going to take what **** gives them - running lanes.

Of course Neal isn't playing, and I'm not sure that they trust Russ Hochstein in the run game like they do Neal. It's going to be interesting. I think Schoebel is out too, and they could run left and have some success.

Buffalo may also try to bring a blitz or two and the running game is a good way to beat that. I think Bill just might feature Laurence tonight and I think Laurence is up to the task.

I am predicting the Maroney patented kick pass to Logan Mankins at the goal-line. That was the last goaline carry I think he had.

Yes, I will agree that 4.7 is a nice average, but Maroney is far what I would call an "explosive" back.

If he were to suddenly become "explosive" tonight, I just want to know what makes tonight different from any other Sunday?

I'm just hoping the guy can manage to stay healthy and give us an Antowan Smith-like season all the way to Phoenix. 15-18 carries & 70-80 yards a game.

Nothing against the kid, but that's all we need out of him until we can draft or aquire a true every-down, back. And I think he can give us that.

your saying hes not explosive? are u insane? watch him more..his acceleration is as good as you see in the league at RB.

Where are all the homers whining about all the Maroney threads? I thought threads about maroney where old? Oh waittttt this one is positive / butt kissing.

Maroney is going to be just fine - he's young, he's still learning and in the process of developing his own style. Not every NFL star comes into the leauge "made to order".

I watch him every week. Like I say, I like him and I think he is a solid back, but he's not a "top 5 back in the NFL" type back. He's not a game-changing, playmaking type of back. That's all I am saying.

I mean, honestly, are you telling me you would not trade Maroney straight up IN A HEARTBEAT for any of the following backs?

Adrian Peterson
Willie Parker
Joseph Addai
Deuce McAllister
Marshawn Lynch
LaDanian Tomlinson
LenDale White
Reggie Bush
Mo Jones-Drew

Now, THOSE lads are what I would call EXPLOSIVE!

Not a knock on Maroney, as I say. He's a solid, servicable back and a nice kid, but just NOT explosive, IMO.

I love New England, but that doesn't mean I think EVERY single player we have is the best at their position! Now THAT'S insane!

Exactly. Right now. He's a good, solid back. Maybe he becomes more, maybe he doesn't. But to deem a top back right now is just not logical.

I don't see anyone making that argument. You're arguing against a straw man.

And the fact that you just called LenDale White explosive lost you the shred of credibility you had left. And no, I wouldn't trade him for McAllister, Bush, or White.

No. But I certainly believe he has the potential to be.

I think he has the potential to. I am worried about his durabilty personally. I do think in a sense he is made out of glass.

I hope he proves me wrong. The cinci game last year was such a tease as to what he can do.

I'll be VERY surprised if Maroney reaches the 100 yard mark tonight. However I will be pleasantly surprised if he can manage to prove me wrong.

Personally, I felt that way after taking the liquids before my colonoscopy exam
