Interestingly, lots of folks here are disparaging Adam Vinitieri given his propensity for missing FGs. However, I remember thread after thread and post after post criticizing BB for not paying Adam enough and keeping him. Which group do you fit in. Be honest, you closet Vinitraitor supporters!
I am the first person to admit that I LOVED Adam when he was a Patriot! He was my favorite player and I watched in awe week after week when he came through in the clutch. He broke my heart when he signed with the Colts and honestly, it was more then I could take. I was glad he got his payday and he can play in a dome, but he is a Colt now and I don't cheer for him anymore. Just my 2 cents.
I thought he was great while he was here. But after he pulled that stunt where he signed a contract without letting the pats matching it he was DEAD TO ME. And to think after watching him the last few weeks that ESPN has him rated as having the 5th strongest leg in the NFL shows what a joke they are.

"Supporter" is too strong a word - I appreciate what he did while he was here - and now 2 years removed from his leaving to go to the Colts I still appreciate his clutch kicks and the Super Bowl Rings he brought here.
However I fault him for the way he conducted himself in free agency, not giving the Patriots the opportunity to match his offer from the Colts, as we all know the notion that he was "prohibited" from getting word back to them is BS.
So I don't "hate" AV, nor do I "support" him now - there's just not an option in this opinion poll that suits me either.
Adam has made over 33% of his last 8 field goals. Gostkowski has beginner's luck at 100%. We forget that Adam plays in a dome. The wind must be unbearable today. If you can get a base hit .333 of the time, you're pretty good.
The Vinatieri deal makes you appreciate BB even more. He's got the stones to let the NFL's premier kicker walk to the enemy... and one season later, it looks like he made the exact right call. While I would have liked to see Adam stay at the time, now I truly admire BB's ruthless efficiency when it comes to player popularity versus team goals. (you'd have thought I'd learned after Milloy, but noooo... )

As much as I hate the fact that he went to Indy, I still think that he is one of the better pressure kickers of all time. I do hate him for going to Indy though.
The FG kicker that we had at that time I will forever remember for helping to bring us as Pats fans, some tremendous happiness and 3 incredible championships. He was a legendary kicker....the most clutch of all time...I appreciate everything he brought to our wonderful city..However, I was sorry that he died the day he stepped out of Gillette stadium.....I never saw that truck coming.......what a shame....can't even recall his name now.....unfortuneatly, he is dead to me.......
Too bad....he could have been a Boston legend......
why just why did he have to go to the Colts ? thats what bothered me so obviously he didnt care about our feelings and had he gone to an NFC team hed still be a legend here.
