Pretty clear manning needs a perfect football team to be effective. Cannot handle any injuries. 7 ints in his last two games. Now he has clark back to go along with Wayne and he cant make anything happen.

How long will the media making excuses for this guy? I mean Brady has been a HOF player under these type of circumstances for years.

The sad part is a great young qb will get snubbed on the probowl because of mannings name, not his play. At this point I dont think he deserves any type of posative press. Can ANYONE call this guy out?

You guys are SO biased about Manning.

Anyone who watches him play can see that he's a great QB. I'll give you that he is not as consistent as Brady, and when he doesn't play well, he doesn't play well. He's definitely slumping right now, but some of the conclusions that posts like this represent are a bit of a reach. A couple of bad games, and all of a sudden it's "this guy would be Dilfer without Dungy & Harrison!"

If anything, Brady is the guy who was the "system QB" for his 1st 5-6 seasons...

Starting to look that way....huh.

I think what is happening right now is that teams can do two things against the Colts offense now.

A) Game plan knowing Harrison isn't playing.

B) Defenses can now blitz Manning...and he looks very uncomfortable.

I have been saying it for years....Manning reminds me of a slightly smarter Drew Bledsoe. He absolutely needs weapons to be great.

Brady does not...and has proven that

How is that? Brady was winning superbowls with some of the most injury ridden playoff teams ever. He did it with less weapons also. Manning is horrible without his SYSTEM at full strength.

Typical colts fan. Your qb is BAD when he is forced to win games with less the perfect conditions. Manning is "slumping" because his team is not in PERCFECT shape. That is a system qb if I ever saw one.

Brady is better , period.

System my *****

He just never had the weapons Manning has had his entire career.

You guys are delusional.

I'll give you that Brady is having a stellar year, but for his 1st few years as a starter, he wasn't asked to do nearly as much for the Patriots as Manning has always been asked to do for the Colts.

Any Pats fan who thinks otherwise is re-writing the history of the earlier Superbowl runs...

Oh really? Brady came in mid season with no playing time and led his team to a superbowl. A team with 20 free agents on it. Brady never had the weapons Manning did and he WON. Manning is showing how overrated he is this year.

Manning is a system qb.

i dont think manning is a system QB...

seeing from the last 3 games, he seems like an average QB to me, that is all...

u give me harrison, wayne, clark, gonzalez and utech and addai, and ill put up amazing numbers as well....

now, with above average weapons, manning looks like the rest of the QB's in this leauge (excluding brady of course)

palmer is also not doing very hot this year....

i think by the time both retire, manning vs brady wont even be considered, manning wont be anywhere near brady's class

Marshall Faulk (1st rounder)
Marvin Harrison (1st rounder)
Edgerrin James (1st rounder)
Reggie Wayne (1st rounder)
Dallas Clark (1st rounder)
Joseph Addai (1st rounder)
Anthony Gonzalez (1st rounder)

These are the guys Peyton Manning has had to work with. Compare that to what Tom Brady has had to work with, and you tell me who's been a product of a system.

Not delusional enough not to notice Manning's superb passer rating of 53.9% playing a crappy opponent in a dome. This after a PATHETIC showing last week. They will win, but I wouldn't be be proud of it.

All I know is that Manning gave me 5 fantasy points today. FIVE!!! Against effing Kansas City.

He's absolute garbage right now and Clark and Wayne are both playing as well as Addai. I don't know how a supposed "Great" QB could slump so badly that I would have been better starting Kyle Boller today. Horrible.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that Manning is one of the best QBs I have seen. I can't say he is a system QB anymore than any other great one is. He has vision, a good arm, is very accurate, reads defences very well and can get out of trouble. So many of those things are those that he would have regardless of his offensive co-ordinator, or his supporting cast. OF COURSE he is better with those people, but then Brady is better because of the people around him. It is also self-evident that Brady is one of the better Quarterbacks of all time.

Watch now all the stupid Manning Nuthuggers in the media will be talking about how great Kansas City is and what an underestimated team they are blah blah blah.

Based on Manning's performance recently without his weapons, plus his generally pathetic performance in big games, the truth is starting to come out on this guy. He is a very, very good quarterback, but on the list of greats, he falls relatively low.

(Not to mention that he is a whiner and a goober and a poor loser.)

The events of 2007 should settle the Brady vs. Manning debate forever. Unless the Colts somehow knock off the Pats in the playoffs, that is. In my opinion, there is only one truly great QB in the NFL today.

I love it, I love it, I effin love it! Finally, the Brady/Manning conversation is ending. Finally people outside New England realize that it is basphemy to utter Manning's name in the same sentance as Brady.

It's clear now, Manning cannot handle adversity. None. This is what happens when someone is babied their entire life. Brady has fought, fought, and fought for what he has become. He has made guys no longer in the league solid players. He has turned 3rd recievers into studs. Manning has been surrounded by tallent his entire career. I'm not saying Manning is a bum, because it's clear that he's a great player. He's just not Tom Brady great. Manning is the once a decade great QB...Brady is the once in a lifetime greatest of his generation. The discussion ends. No more insulting Brady. I love it. F the league.

I completely agree with you. We are way to hard on Manning. Branch and Givens and Brown were way better than Harrison, Wayne, and Clark. Brady had way more to work with than manning ever had in his first few seasons. Then after Givens and Branch left the Pats really went out of their way to obtain the ultimate receiver, probably the best the league has ever seen in Reche Caldwell. Anyone with common sense knows Brady is the product of a system, since he hasn't had any amazing running backs like James or Addai, or had any great receivers like Harrison and Wayne.

No sarcasm whatsoever.

I dislike Seyton as much as any Patfan out there, but I think it is pretty weak, lame, and homerish to say he is the product of a system. Do you even know what that means? What other great QB has come from that system so that your argument is valid? Case in point: the Colts had a different system before Dungy and Peyton still did well. This argument is just stupid.

I realize that the media over-emphasizes Peyton, but at the same time some of you homers go the other extreme. Peyton is a HOF QB, a great player, and a great QB. Does he have his flaws? Well sure, all people do. Has he been spoiled with his WR corps? Yes, but only a fool would call him a product of a system.

Stop being homers and be realistic. Dislike the guy all you want, but put down the beer and walk way. Every player has bad games. TB included.

Even with Harrison missing, Peyton still has more weapons than 90% of QBs in the NFL. If he can't put up points with these guys, then he doesn't deserve to be called a good quarterback.

And to think that I was staunchly defending him as an elite QB as recently as 2 weeks ago...

It's not being a homer to recognize that the guy hasn't had one good game since Harrison went out. All players have bad games, but great QBs don't play this badly for this long.

I don't think it's a matter of a system so much as talent. Peyton can't play without 1st round/pro-bowl talent around him at numerous positions. Which is true of alot of other mediocre QBs. But that's the thing. He's a mediocre QB. It's good that it's being exposed.
