PFT: Colts cut Klecko, promote Corey Hilliard

COLTS CHOP KLECKO

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Indianapolis Colts have cut defensive lineman Dan Klecko, in order to create space for offensive lineman Corey Hilliard, whom the Colts signed from their practice squad.

Klecko, who once played for the Patriots, caught the game-tying touchdown pass against the Pats in the 2006 AFC championship game.

The son of former Pro Bowl lineman Joe Klecko, Dan Klecko will first pass through waivers. If unclaimed, he'll become an unrestricted free agent.

Unfortunately, it looks like Dan Klecko has been cut from the Colts. It's a sad day in the NFL. Any chance you think he gets picked up by another team? Probably not. One of my favorite recent players for everything he does, even if he went to the Colts.

I own a Klecko jersey. Talk about a bad investment.

Probably Polian in a pique. Retribution. Look for the Jets to pick him up in order to distract their fans from their train wreck season.

Unfortunately, it looks like Dan Klecko has been cut from the Colts. It's a sad day in the NFL. Any chance you think he gets picked up by another team? Probably not. One of my favorite recent players for everything he does, even if he went to the Colts.

Also notice the Colts promoted Corey Hilliard from their practice squad. Nice to see where the Pats' 2007 6th round draft picks are going...

Klecko wore 60 for the Colts, though, BoTown.

I owned a Bruschi jersey back in the day when Bruschi was just a 3rd down pass rush specialist DE (1996-7)... I hoped buying a Klecko jersey would catalyze the transformation, but alas it didn't work out so well.

Klecko and Mangini have a negative history, so Klecko going to the Jets would be interesting indeed.

Anyhow, it's a pity that Klecko isn't quite big enough or whatever to make it. The guy certainly has a heart and head for the game.

I'm assuming that there aren't other reasons, of course ...

Despite what I'd posted about Klecko going to the Jets to assuage Mangini's failure, I've heard about that bad blood before and believe you're correct. Could you elaborate?

Thought that name sounded familiar. I guess the Pats survived without that 7th for Welker.
