but me. i was the lone voice on this board last season saying he's not a true #1 back, and he's not. what he is, is a backup back to occasionally spot the real starter, and also return some kicks. he doesn't have power to get through the line, and he doesn't have lateral speed to get outside the tackle. stop pretending he's something he isn't, it only hurts the team. this franchise did not become great holding false assumptions, like bledsoe should start over brady. just like last off season we went out and got real WRs, we need to do some thing this off season to get a real starting RB.

anyone know who the promising draft or free agents are?

Hasn't this discussion been covered over and over on this board? Do you have anything new to bring on this topic?

'sniff' 'sniff' - Do I smell a tremendous amount of bashing the OP thread to come shortly?

Yes,Thats what I smell

I seem to remember a dozen threads insisting we'd paid too much for Welker. I put this in the same category.

Congratulations, you're a hero.

Only on the Pats can a RB with almost a 5 YPC average be considered the greatest of disappointments and stand as evidence of somebody's negative prognostication.

Good god, I hope you don't really believe this garbage. Maroney may not be the next Payton, but there's no way we're going out and getting another guy to start ahead of him. Not even the smallest sliver of a chance.

you're wrong, and im glad bb has shown a short tolerance for underperformers (i.e. bledsoe, milloy, dillon, etc.) question now, who do we get in draft or fa?

no way, i love welker, and i thought miami was crazy for letting him get away. he's the kind of player that makes any team he plays on better.

Pioli and BB are clueless when it comes to talent evaluation. Heck the colts were throwing a curveball saying that Maroney was their first choice over Addai.

Should've selected Stephen Jackson a couple years ago, oooops he's hurt.
Should've taken Chris Perry couple yrs ago, oooops he's been a bust
Should've taken Kevin Jones, ooooops he's made of glass.
Should've taken Cadillac Williams, oooops he's got a torn acl
Should've traded up for Cedric Benson, oooops he's done nothing being #4pick
Should treaded up for Ronnie Brown, oooops done nothing and hurt
Should've taken DeAngelo Williams in '06 , ooops done nothing
Shoud've traded entire '07 draft to Vikes for Adrian Peterson
Should've signed E. James to monster FA contract, ooops done nothing in AZ
Should've offered $$ to Tiki barber, ooops he's retired
Should've offered $$ to Travis Henry, ooops he's done - steroids suspension

Now, real man of genius, can you tell us what other draft or FA you would like to add which is a "REAL" RB ? The likes of

It's ok to dump on Maroney, but give the kid a break, he's in his 2nd yr ! He's still learning how to be a RB in Pats system. Furthermore, the Pats changed to a Zone blocking scheme this yr

Does it ever register in numnuts like you that the FO and coach is taking a cautious approach with LM ? What counts is that your injured players are ready for post season (Look at '07 Sox). FO got Sammy Morris, but unfortunately he got hurt. That's life.....injuries are part of the game. Some players get hurst more often than others, just bad luck.

We want LM to be ready in Dec and Jan. It means nothing right now as we are steamrolling the opposition.

I'm sick of fans just want to crap over a player. Now if LM had not been hurt, and played same # games as Addai, there would be no noise coming. The fact is he has a role in our system. If in another 2 yrs he has done nothing then yea, cut your losses and move on. But to sour on a player in his 2nd yr is ridiculous !

I suppose guys like you would've cut Brady, Troy Brown, Wes Welker, Wilfork, Warren in their 2nd yrs as they had done nothing till then.

Why didnt you just pull up the "Glass Maroney" thread and keep that one steaming? You'da fit right in with the other clown.

LOL, you're joking, right?

One can hardly call what Ronnie Brown did this year prior to his injury "doing nothing," but fair enough. This just shows why selecting a RB in the 1st round is folly, and why the Patriots WILL NOT select Darren McFadden this coming draft.

Interesting that I not remember you saying this last year. Then I noticed that you weren't a member last year. Nice try.

But thanks for your insight on how the franchise got great. You should explain to Belichick.

anyone know who the promising draft or free agents are?
You need to get in touch with Belichick right away. He has stated that he is fine with what RBs we have. If he isn't corrected, the team will continue to lose.

Stupid thread ! This is like the 3rd thread on this topic, both sides having valid points. Personally, I think he's a good back that's gonna get much better, JMTC

MOD, can we merge all these Maroney threads, it's getting pathetic

How about waiting until the guy is 23 before pronouncing judgment? You're embarrassing yourself.

look at what LM and RB have done their first year, and based on where RB finished last year (~1000 yds), LM should be able to reach that this year if used more in 2nd half of the season.

RB, being a #2 pick in '05 has been a bigger bust so far tham LM having been drafted towards the tail end of RD#1 in '06, injuries not withstanding.

Also RB has the case of fumblitis....4 each in his first 2 seasons, where he played 14 and 13 games. Granted this was his breakout yr. So, the point is be patient - let me get couple yrs under his belt. Not every RB is Tomlinson or Deuce McAllister from day one.

Yawn. He's averaging 4.7 yards per carry. He's consistently gashing the hole, mostly between the tackles. You're an impatient boob, etc...

For the last time, we don't mind LEGIT criticism of any and all Patriots. But baseless, STUPID criticism - clearly meant to simply stir sh!t - is obnoxious and deserves to be smacked down, and hard, your user name remembered and summarily mocked in all threads hereafter.
