Was listening to Fox Sports on the radio earlier this a.m. They were saying the largest point spread in NFL history was 23 points (can't remember the game) but Las Vegas in already anticipating the Jet/Patriot rematch to have the highest point spread ever.
Wonder why???

That whole organization, and the majority of that fanbase sucks. Run it up, baby!

49ers (-23) vs. Bengals, 1993. 49ers won 21-8.

There could be a snowstorm the day the Patriots play the Jets. It's a bit too early to predict any kind of score.

I think even without a snowstorm the game will be closer than you might imagine. And low scoring.

The Pats will be at least a -24 favorite, but I really think we will see a -27. We are -15.5 point chalk on the road at Buffalo. When you factor in the home team gets 3 points for homefield advantage, you would be looking at a -18.5 neutral field spread and a -21.5 spread if it was at Gillette. When you consider Buffalo was favored by 3 at the Jets a couple weeks ago and the fact that the Jets were already stomped by 31 by the Pats and are arguably the worst team in the league, you can expect a spread ofd at least -24. I am predicting -27.

I assume and hope the Pats are focused just on getting a solid and safe W.

Jets are suffering anyway and not worth the time.

Last thing we need is bad business on the field -- the football equivalent of when the Red Sox and Devil Rays were beaning each other a few years ago.

The spread will be between 17 and 20.

You guys do realize this is going to be the Jets' Super Bowl, right?

Exactly why I am not looking forward to this game.... Too many things can go wrong.

All I can say is it's a good thing the Jets let Kimo von Oelhoffen go earlier in the season! (Though he does play for the Eagles, who are our next opponent after Buffalo.)

I predict a 63- 3 Pats win.
The game is called off by Mangina at the half.

It doesn't matter what the spread is, it won't be enough.

The game against the Chargers was their superbowl. Same with the Cowboys. The game against Miami will be their superbowl.

NE's been getting the other team's best game for 6 years now. The fact that the Jets players suck will be a much bigger factor than how much they want the game.

I can't remember who they played but I believe the biggest spred was when the 80's 49ers team played someone. Can't remember their opponent though. I could be wrong, but thought it was the 49ers giving points to someone.

Right you are!
Weeks ago i hungered for this chance to witness a humiliation.
All that has ebbed ... as we're on to other, better things ...
and the Jets implode all by themselves.

Just want to be as healthy after that game as before it
and possessing a few nice stats
to garnish the W.

How is th eJet defense going to make it low scoring?
It will be both high scoring and low scoring. We will score a ton of points, and they will score none.

Truer words were never spoken. I think we put a little too much into who "wants" the game more. For sure, it can make a difference, but only when teams are fairly evenly matched. In this case, Patriots=great, Jets=suck. No amount of grit and verve on the Jets part will change that little reality.

Meanwhile, they're just as likely to turn turtle from the opening gun. I can't imagine they'll be looking forward to it. Either way, they'll get beat pretty badly.

But none of this matters much in the business of setting odds. The entire nation thinks the Patriots are going to be out for blood, so they'll lay heavy on the Patriots if the spread is anywhere close to reality. To get an even bet, Vegas is going to have to set an absolutely ridiculous line (or they'll have to, in essence, take the Jets against the public, which does happen). I can't imagine it will be under 24.

Who on the Jets can stop Randy Moss let alone the rest of the Pats WRs? The answer is nobody. Absolutely no way the Jets hold them under 30.

It would have to be. There's no way it could be even MORE lop-sided than I am imagining :D
