Not to mention both Mark Schlereth and Merril Hodge complaining that the refs reviewed the call. They claimned that the ball was always a few inches off one way or another on every play and it was too big of a play to change the spot. Of course they didn't mention that the play would normally be challenged by any coach with half a brain had there been more than two minutes left in the game. So, of course the refs were going to review it, especially when the spot was so far off.

You must have missed the play where the Colt defender ran right into the Charger receiver on an underthrown pass. That was obvious PI and it wasn't called.

Fact is, Patriots had horrific calls go against them over the years. The refs were in our pockets? Name the bad calls please.

I can name many crucial ones that went against us.

Two horrible calls in the 2005 playoff game against Denver. Several horrible calls in the 2006 playoff game against Indy. I can't think of one beneficial bad call that benefited the Patriots. Not offhand, anyway.

I could care less what a bunch of haters think just because there is a tuck rule. The Raiders were a popular team.

The fact is that the Dolts cheat on almost every play by holding on offense and pass interfering and spearing on defense and it simply never gets called.

The irony is that in the 2003 Foxboro game where we flat manhandled the Colts, Vrabel was being held and tackled to the ground on the famous play that Roman Phifer pinched the jersey of that loudmouth Pollard. You can see it plain as day in the foreground while the announcer ****s his pants about the brief tug on the jersey.

Meanwhile the Colts do that stuff on every play in every game with no reprecussion whatsoever.

Let's talk reality instead of what the haters in the media thinks. No team in this league cheats more systematically than the Colts. Holding on every offensive play and pass interference and spearing with the helmet on defense.

How convenient that Polian made it almost impossible to call holding anymore. What a smart move on his part.

An NFL official watched the play live and awarded the spot he felt Addai deserved. Then an NFL official looked at the recordings of the play and reassessed things taking maximum advantage of time and multiple views. How could the Colts get to the guys on the field; but not the guy in the booth?

I play Darts in an organized league. I just finished a match this evening. In Darts you have to keep both feet behind the line while throwing. Most people stand still and keep their feet firmly on the ground; but there's a few who need to step into their throws. There was one of those oddballs playing tonight. The rule says that his foot must be behind the line when he lets the dart go; but its ok for it to be moving forward. I watched him throw maybe 10 times and I really couldn't tell with any certainty if his foot was passing the line before he let the dart go or not. Unlike an NFL referee I knew precisely what was going to happen and what to watch for and got to watch 'the play' 10 times in a row from a stationary position and I still couldn't be certain whether he was breaking the rules or not. I'm sure if I could have taped the guy and rolled the tape forward one frame at a time and stopped it at the exact frame where the dart was no longer in his hand, then I could have just looked at where his foot was; but I didn't have that luxury. I had to just watch him and try to divide my attention between his hand and foot and failed pretty miserably.

I guarantee you cannot name any. You can make that statement, but WILL NOT back it up. I also guarantee you that we CAN name all the horrible calls against us.

You did this on one occassion. A referree does it as a profession (and an NFL ref is at the top of the ladder). Of course the ref should be able to pick up many things you can't. You can't equate your experience to his. To be good at something you need skill, knowledge, and practice. The NFL refs should have all 3 when it comes to their job. You probably have none when it comes to being a ref.

I never reff'd, I did play a little in High School; but you are right I have no formal or even informal training on how those guys do what they do. So my judgment on what they should or shouldn't get right isn't particularly informed; but still, if the fix was in it seems like it would be much easier to do it through the hidden booth guy than the field officials.

have not watched the replay yet, but what Dungy wanted to know was where the 1st and ten started. Many have said it was 1st and ten, just beyond the 16 yard line. Therefore, reaching the SIX yard line, or just outside of it, should have gained the first down. Interested to see where the ball was originally spotted on first down

Speaking of spots, I know you all thought we got a generous one just before the half two weeks ago. I though we got jobbed inside the five (the two runs before Gonzo dropeed the 3rd down TD). Looked like both Keith and Addai gained more yards than they were credited for. Game of inches, eh?

This is a fantastic idea. That way, the cameras could focus on him on the sidelines between defensive snaps for the Colts. How much do you think an advertiser would pay? Perhaps permanent tatoos?? Maybe a 3-d holographic TAT?? That way, when he moves his head, a second or third ad could be seen.

Yet, you think he should be given a crucial, game ending 1st down spot because sometimes mistakes happen in other parts of the game that cost us a couple inches here or there. Do you hear yourself?

What about the gifted non PI call on SD's 3rd down in the 4th? That one was blatantly obvious.
Instead you'll point to Moorehead getting tangled with Weddel's arm a split second before the ball arrives. A split second attempt at breaking up a play versus a near tackle before the ball gets near Gates.
One is a good db play, whereas the other was plain stupid.

I am not "arguing" or complaining, I am discussing. No excuses, just food for thought. Certainly, I will go back and take a look at where that first down started in the San Diego game. Not questioning where the final spot was, questioning where the first down to gain should have been. That's all. In the end, we lost, it's over. Can't blame that loss on that 1 play for sure.
