You are sitting at a Patriots game in damn good seats that you paid for (not corporate or friendly Gimmes).

The guy/girl to your immediate left (who you do not know) does not stand up during the National Anthem, just keeps talking away on his/her cell phone.

What do you do?

1. Ignore them with a ‘humphhh’.
And afterwards calmly ask them why they did not stand.

2. Politely ask them to stand.

3. Tell them to stand and turn the cell phone off.

4. Get the attendant.

5. Grab them to make them stand.

6. Pummel the hell out of the SOB.

Any thoughts??

I'd go with #2 first, then #3, and if that don't work, I'd consider escalating to number 5, then if necessary, number 6.

But then, I'm a classless a-hole :)

I'd stare a hole into their foreheads than canaries could fly through.

only in totalitarian countries is it a REQUIREMENT for people to stand for anthems and the like.

On the other hand, constant and annoying cell phone use in public places should carry the death penalty and the punishment should be carried out by anyone who views it, summarily

7. Nothing at all

is the girl hot?

in that case I look down her shirt.

Do nothing... Mind your business and keep it moving.. You do not know this person beliefs, and why get yourself into a potential problem that could be avoided just because you did not agree with this person's beliefs..

Accidentally bump them so they drop the phone.

agreed x2

That's what seats are for. To sit in them. They obviously didn't pay top Dollar to hear whoever's fabulous rendition of the Star Spangled Banor. They came to watch football.

This happened to me once, back in '88. There was a lady, early 70's, who refused to stand during the National Anthem. Well, I overreacted, and beat the living tar out of her.

I sure turned beet red when I found out, she had no legs. VERY embarassing to say the least.

Brilliant! :rocker:

(I stand up for the U.S. national anthem, as a courtesy to my hosts -- and I don't own a cell phone.)

don't do anything. Just make a mental note that both people are *******s.

You should make mental notes of all the people that suck so you know who not to talk to in the future.

Beat the crap out of them, then take on the security guards (With your hat off of course)

Perfect answer

Get your buddies and the rest of the nearby crowd to sing the national anthem at random points in the game.
