...The New England Patriots select RB Darren McFadden from Arkansas.

The only team who could snag McFadden is the Jets, but they could draft a QB instead. The Dolphins need a QB and have Ronnie Brown. Rams have Stephen Jackson. I can see McFadden drop down to us in the top 5 like Adrian Peterson. If the Jets do take McFadden, I like Mike Hart or trade the pick. I want to see another RB to go with Maroney.

this is old news.... this was discussed last week.

I don't see a rb getting drafted.

Is there anything this board hasn't covered? The bye was has caused us to talk about everything. I need some Red Sox news I think.

I don't think anyone has discussed their second round pick or two thirds.

No. Using a pick that high on a RB is not something I would like to see. I would much rather send it to the Cowboys and get multiple first round picks and maybe more.

I think that would be a wasted pick, regardless of the talent of the RB.

NO!!

Maroney is our running back, and after watching McFadden this guy is super fast but has less RB moves, and his legs are way too long to be a good NFL RB for a long time.

There's no way in hell the Pats use this pick. Kraft has said multiple times in the past that high first round picks are not economical.

Quote me on this. The Pats WILL NOT draft in the Top 10 of the 2008 NFL Draft.

the Draft is going to be easy for us to predict either A) we trade with Dallas getting there 2 first round picks and more maybe there firat next year then we trade one of those for a first next year or B) we trade down then trade down again then trade down a 3rd time untill we are in the 16-24 range and then make sure we gett another first rounder in 2009.

How great would it be if some how they manged to get 3 you read that right 3 first rounders next year.

There's this guy in Dallas who owns 2 1st round picks and happens to be a graduate of the Univ of Arkansas. He's a very egomaniacal kind of guy who loves making the BIG SPLASH even if he doesn't have a desperate need at running back. Might want to tuck that little tidbit into the back of your mind until Draft day.

MLB Rookie of the year and MVP selections are slated for this week and next week.

Pedroia won, nice to see. Beckett should win Cy Young, but Sabathia will. How bout them Revs? Anything the Kraft's touch is gold!

Actually, Maroney AND Morris are our running backs. Funny how Sammy Morris has been forgotten after running for 100 yards twice in three games before he got hurt.

McFadden = Chris Brown. Upright, good long speed, not elusive. In the NFL he is just another average sized back with average quickness. He is NOT Adrian Peterson.

you have to find a trading partner. maybe they'll trade 2 or 3 times down the first round.

This is the reason I think they might keep it. Pats seem to like to turn CW on its head.

How many of us said that there was no way Pats would draft an OL in the first round, and they take a guard, not even a center or tackle!

BB does not take RBs high ... except when he took Maroney.

This is what I think should and will happen. I'd rather bank a few 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounders and get a low first rounder.

I have no desire to see New England improve the Cowboys by making any such trade. If New England does trade down, I would prefer it not be a trade involving the Colts, Cowboys, Steelers, Chargers or Packers. In my opinion, it'd be better to trade with a lesser team and take lower picks/picks from next year than to give those teams a draft pick at the top of the first round.

If you want two first round picks for this upcoming draft, the Cowboys are the best bet. I agree it is in your best competitive interest not to trade with division rivals and/or fellow AFC "powerhouses," the Cowboys are a team that you will only see in the next four years once, unless both teams make it to the Super Bowl.

Trading a single first round pick for a future first round pick with those teams is a stupid idea as well, if that's what the bulk of your post was emphasizing. But I think the only way the Patriots trade with the Cowboys is if its for both of their first rounders this year.

I'd like to see them get Barber and the picks.

This was a ridiculous thread TWICE last week and it's a ridiculous thread this week. I appreciate the newbie wanting to have some actually Patriots-related talk here - enough b!tching and moaning about the colts and steelers already - but what a total WASTE it would be to spend a top draft pick on a position that is already ably filled.

Is McFadden better than Maroney? Maybe. But we are likely to have dire needs at LB and CB by the time April rolls around. We need to be as prudent, picks-wise, as we usually are, and I expect BB/Pioli will do just that.
