HC's getting fired after the season

I'd hire McD if I owned a franchise in need of a coach.

But if Mangini goes 2-14 or worse, there may be some teams that get cold feet about hiring a BB assistant to be HC at such a young age.

After watching the coaching careers of Romeo, Charlie and young Padawhangini, I dont' think teams will be jumping over each other to hire Patriots assistants anymore. It's quite clear who the brains of the operation is.

Seriously doubt that Marvin Lewis will be gone after this season. Remember where the Cincy team were when he took over the HC job there ? 1-15 the season before, if I remember correctly. They couldn't even fill the stadium at that time. During most of Lewis' tenure in Cincy they've gotten explosive on offence, and have been playoff participants for the first time in over a decade.

This season they've been shredded to pieces through injuries, and with very limited cap room to make up for this, they've still managed a shot at a playoff berth. That cannot be the fault of the HC the way I see it. At the very least, Marwin Lewis is far more secured than say Billick at Baltimore.
If I were a Bungles fan, (thanks god I'm not) I'd be wondering why the defense hasn't made ANY strides since Lewis's arrival. Lewis was supposed to bring that Ravens defense philosophy with him.

AJ Smith is a great GM when it comes to the draft unfortunately he cannot pick a coach to save his life. While I'm not a big Cowher fan he would actually be a good fit there. They need a Pom Pom guy to get them pumped up and keep them in line.

Norv was trying to talk to LT last night and you could see he had tuned him out. If the Bolts bring him back it's a huge mistake.
Yea, you may be right. But unless he completely loses the team this year he'll prolly be back. Hell, PM probably saved his job last night. Also, if SD makes the playoffs he'll definitely be back.

McDaniels will probably be gone. Even if he shouldn't be.

he could be a brilliant coach but its to early to be one... he is to young... it takes more than good play-calling to be a hc.... leadership, handling the media, handling *******s, drafting and a lot more... i suggest he stays a couple more years, under bb, learn, win lot more superbowls...

I think Billick is in trouble..the ravens are getting worse...Lewis SHOULD be gone, but stays, Coughlin is OK and Reid will stay unless he chooses to leave. Same with Gibbs...unless he wishes to go back to NASCAR he stays. Turner will stay...SD makes the playoffs. Mangini stays for another one..although on a short leash...Josh is smart and stays here..

Am I the only one who thinks Gruden is actually a pretty good coach? I liked what he did with the Raiders, and I know the Bucs have been up-and-down, but they've had a ton of personnel issues (to include the oft broken-down Cadillac.)

Lewis should definitely be gone. He's had plenty of time to get a "D" going.

Billick should also be gone. An offensive genius should know a good quarterback when they see one.

Childress I think is doing oK. I'd love to see another season with better QB play and Adrian Peterson.

I'm going to hedge my bets that Norv actually doesn't get canned. I think he was a mistake, but I don't see an organization rectifying the problem that quickly. I think they'll putz around with him another year before realizing continuity doesn't matter with him and he just sucks as a HC.

I think there'll be some serious coaching attrition this season.

My list includes:

Billick
Childress
NORV-seriously
Andy Reid
Tom Coughlin
Marvin Lewis
Joe Gibbs

Curious how this migh impact the Pats, specifically with Josh McDaniels name being brought up quite a bit as an HC candidate.

i dont agree with reid, coughlin and gibbs, and possibly childress

"...if SD makes the playoffs" ...?
Wow...sad to see the Bolts struggling to make the playoffs. I was really hoping to see the AFC game here against SD this year.

LT freezin his arse off on the sidelines with his frown frozen on his face and his tears turning to ice cubes as they hit the ground...

Well, despite the baying voices of other Bucs fans calling for his head after a loss, I think he's a good coach. I think his main problem has been solved short term by Garcia - he needs a quarterback willing to shove back, so to speak. The other issues are the injury bug that's plaguing the NFL - although our duct-tape and second stringers act is limping along better than the other NFC South teams.

Another issue that dogs the Buccaneers, one not generally played on by the media, is the unseriousness of the ownership. The Glazers have always seemed inattentive, and they've grown even less so since the Super Bowl win and their involvement with Man U over in England.

Jon Gruden will probably retain his position as long as we're competitive in the South, and that bar is pretty low.

Cam Cameron may get the benefit of the doubt since this is a rebuilding year. But then again, coaches that have a 2-win or less season aren't usually kept around.

2006 Oakland, 2-14, 2007, Art Shell is gone
2005 Houston, 2-14, 2006, Dom Capers is gone
2004 San Francisco, 2-14, 2005, Dennis Erickson is gone
2002 Cincinnati, 2-14, 2003, **** LeBeau is gone
2001 Carolina, 1-15, 2002, George Seifert is gone

The exception is Marty Mornhinweg, who was 2-14 in his Detroit debut and was kept around for one more season. But 0-16 is unprecedented. No matter how Aqua tries to spin it, Ginn was a bad, bad pick. They would've been much better off with Brady Quinn. You don't spend a 1st rounder on a guy that is only going to contribute on ST. Look at the top return men, how many of them were drafted in the 1st round?

Let me put it this way. If we're fortunate enough to work through NE, I think NE should have cause for concern. What that would mean is that we figured a few things out. SD is definitely a dangerous team. Especially when it's feeling good about itself.

We played for s h i t last nite and still beat a very good Colts team. I don't know that you really want to see SD come thru NE. Because like I said, if SD does get the opportunity to come to NE, they won't be a bad team at that point.

There's an article on Yahoo Sports that says the players aren't too happy with Norv. Quotes unnamed players, but what it quotes them saying kinda makes sense:

A team with Philip Rivers at QB is to be feared? Give me a break. Any kind of pressure on him and he falls apart.

Back to the thread, Mike Nolan's team is having a horrible year, but who would they get to replace him?

If fans got to vote on this type of stuff, I think Dungy would have been fired this morning.

Yea I read it. There may be some truth there but you have to understand who Silver is. He's just another mediot with an agenda. Everything he talks about in that article had already been beaten to death on our forum long before that article came out.

Bottom line for me is that I don't know who this team is just yet and neither does anyone else. It's both scary and exciting! :)

One things for certain. The picture will be clearer at the end of the season.

I think there'll be some serious coaching attrition this season.

My list includes:

Billick Very possible...
Childress I doubt it...
NORV-seriously This one is open for now... could be either way.
Andy Reid He might step down instead...
Tom Coughlin I dunno. He sort of turned the ship.
Marvin Lewis Very Possible...
Joe Gibbs He might retire... but he won't get fired.

Curious how this migh impact the Pats, specifically with Josh McDaniels name being brought up quite a bit as an HC candidate. Who would be stupid enough to hire him????

Be careful what you wish for. We just might hurt your feelings....again.

I don't know who you get to replace Billick. Unless that situation has just gone stale (with An A-hole like Lewis it's possible) Billicks kept them competitive a long time with just an occasional top RB season and no quarterback.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him cut some fat, go young and make a run.
