Stern Show likes the Pats

I was listening to a replay of last Monday’s show and they were discussing the Pats-Colts game. Apparently they all met Bob Kraft at some event and really loved him so they all like the Pats now, even Artie who’s a Yankees fan. Howard said that Peyton looked like an egg! He also commented on how confident Brady looked in the last 10 minutes.

I listen to Howard for bits at a time almost every day.

This past summer, Bob Kraft hired Artie to do a private gig for someone's birthday (I believe it was one of the sons). Baba Booey (Gary for non-listeners) mentioned he was asked to come as well to announce Artie and was floored at how much Kraft paid him. Both Artie and Baba Booey mentioned how great they all were, marveled at the homes, etc. etc. Apparently, Kraft sent the private jet down to NY to pick them both up since the gig was on a school night and they had to be back in time to get some shut eye prior to the next days show.

It's one thing to hire Artie Lange for a private show (no knocks on Artie, I think he's great), but I also heard the Krafts hired Elton John for a private show a while back. You've got some serious cash in order to do that!

Slow down Arem, I think you are mixing your shock jocks. It was Don Imus who uttered the "knappy headed HOs" remark, though Howard is capable of such a remark, but he wasn't guilty of it.

Well, gee, do you think having more time in the pocket had something to do with looking "confident"? I'm glad Howard knows who is more confident by how they look.

It's too bad Howard didn't know that the draw and screen wore out their pass rush in the fourth quarter.

Nothing like creating myths of confidence rather than seeing the obvious. JP Losman looks confident when he has time. That should tell you something.

It's an inarguable fact that, in critical spots of big games, teams assume the personality of their leaders.

After the last drive in SB 36, David Patten admitted, "if Tom had been nervous, WE would've been nervous." Players are VERY sensitive to how a QB reacts to the spotlight. Some players see it as an opportunity to be great, and others see it as a chance for failure.

Everyone outside of Indy can visibly see when Peyton gets uncomfortable in tight pressure spots. It's so obviously written on his face and expressed in his jittery nervous delivery....maybe some of that is natural, but it still translates the wrong vibe to the other skill players.

Contrary to popular opinion, Tom's got more fire than ice....but he knows the other guys are taking their cues from him on big drives where perfection is demanded and composure/confidence is needed. Sometimes a guy like Reche "Ricochet" Caldwell (his nickname BEFORE he arrived in NE) just drops the ball...but more often than not, if the QB has a calming influence you significantly increase the odds of flawless execution in those critical situations.

It's just hard for the average fan to understand how much pressure comes to bear in a big NFL game.
