They get rung up by AP last week for the most yards ever by a single player rushing in a game.

Then they come home get 6 INTs vs and injury ravaged Indy team, and need to rely on a missed 29 yrds FG to preserve a win. Man that is pathetic.

Rivers looks like a bum, I bet they are kicking themselves for unloading Brees a few years back. Norv is just plain poison.

Somewhere Marty is sitting in his recliner laughing his ass off at AJ Smith.

Philip Rivers is not good. Plain and simple. Agree that they should have kept Brees. I find it funny that back when we were getting ready to play the Chargers, some idiot Charger fan said he would take Rivers over Brady...LOL!!!

Even though a Win is a Win-if I were a Chargers fan, I would be very, very worried.

The thing about Norv is not that he's BAD, per se. Yes, his teams are pretty competitive most of the time, and they give 110%, but this is something I noticed about him in Washington...

You just NEVER know which team will show up on any given month. They can start the season hot or cold. If they start hot, then all of a sudden he's labeled a genious-but thereafter, they would go on a cold streak and everyone would start figuring him out. Then the next minute they would bounce back and get on a streak, then all this speculation about him would go away, then they would crash and burn to miss the playoffs, only to win out their next 1 or 2 games, which would all but asure that respective team's fan base would get optimistic about NEXT season.

I know the above might not make sense, but does anyone see where I'm getting at? Yeah-he's not the kind of coach that'll go 3-13 in any given year, b/c he's more or a less a "tease" to the respective team's fan base.

And here's the WORST part-when he leaves, the team is in COMPLETE dissaray for YEARS to come.

Before last week's Minnesota game I assumed that SD was back on track. I hadn't seen them play since the Pats demolished them but seeing them vs. the Vikings it quickly became apparent that they were awful. Last night only confirmed that for me. Rivers cannot make the throws, they just hang there waiting for someone to pick them off. And LT just doesn't seem to have whatever magic he had last year. They should consider getting into the Derek Anderson sweepstakes. I would really not be that worried to face them in January.

Brings up a question that i would hate to find out the answer to;

What would an available BB bring for a salary on the open market? Look at the clowns running NFL teams and tell me that NFL owners wouldn't pony up their first born for a few seasons with Bill. Any thoughts?

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

The Chargers had 5 meaningful INTs (the last was in essence a hail mary) and yet still relied on 2 kick return scores and a missed 29yd FG to win. The Colts were without both Harrison and Clark, Moorehead looked lost on his route running and Johnson subbing at left tackle is a disaster, yet still almost pulled this one out on the road in the rain one week after a both mentally and physically draining playoff-like game.

I think I'm looking forward to a #4 seed San Diego making the trip to Foxboro in January...assuming they beat a #5 Tennessee, Jacksonville or Cleveland squad.

Regards,
Chris

I think now I am going to quietly root for Denver to somehow pull out the AFC West title so we can exact a little arse whooping on them instead in the Yoffs. So sick of San Diego and all their talk. They are a horrid football team that acts like they've won super bowls.

That's one of the reasons, I think, the Pats signed Belichick through the 2013 season. The only way Belichick can coach for another team before the 2014 season is:

(A) The Pats actually fire him, or
(B) Someone offers the Pats adequate compensation. And, right now, I'm guessing that's about 10 first-round draft picks. :)

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

Agreed. They suck mainly because Rivers is terrible. Just terrible. And someone has to mention that LT is way overrated.

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

Anyone think they get rid of Smith at the end of the year and bring back Marty along with another veteran (asst head) coach to take over for him in the playoffs?

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

I think one has to fault Turner - maybe LT and Merriman aren't all they made themselves out to be, but there is no question this team was the consensus "best on paper" last year and this year.

Ultimately the fault is with the GM who, after deciding no coaching change was necessary, lost the opportunity to find a top candidate by letting Marty go a month later.

Chargers fans who refused to acknowledge that losing our OC and DCs had an adverse impact on the Patriots - thinking that a change in the entire coaching staff would have no adverse affect, now know otherwise.

Too bad they didn't listen to us sooner or their expectations wouldn't be unrealistically high

I'm guessing that Kraft has BB by the short hairs thanks to that little situation at the beginning of the season.

Rivers does suck yet he still always has that stupid crap-eating grin on his face. Turner brings what he always brings to the table. I am surprised how ineffective LT has been this season.

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

They should take the plunge with an up-and-comer like Tomlin or Whisenhut were last year, or Gruden, Reid, etc in earlier years.

I thought Chris Chambers could really help, but apparently not.

We heard a lot about missing Harrison and the LT (Ugoh), but SD is missing its #1 receiver from last year (Parker) on IR and its center. I know Indy was also missing Clark, but a great QB should rise above it.

Bottom line is that the classy Chargers really suck ... but they can say they are classy.

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

I'm not a Turner fan, but people need to ease up on the guy. He got to the team late and didn't have the ability to put together his preferred coaching staff. Smith is the assclown out there, not Turner.

San Diego got on a good roll last year and LT carried them for most of the season, but when it really came down to it, Rivers was not ready to handle the big throws and big games.

Somewhere along the way, a QB reveals himself to be what he really is. In the case of Rothlisberger and Brady, they stepped up from game #1 and made plays when they needed to. Romo may yet turn out OK but some of what Romo does in big games was revealed last year. He started choking down the stretch and could not continue to play on the level he started earlier in the year. Manning is exactly what we saw last night. A sore loser and without significant weapons, is just another QB with a good arm but not the testicular fortitude to finish off the opponent.

Re: Whats lost in the SD win..man do they suck this year

My 2 cents:

1) Last nights circus performance, and last weeks debacle against the Vikings falls squarely on the shoulders of the coaches/play calling - specifically Norv Turner. Why is LT ineffective? Norv. Why is Rivers ineffective? Norv. Our offensive play calling can be found by reading "Coaching for Dummies" or watching "The Waterboy". Truly horrendous.

2) Obviously, Rivers is not playing well. He's totally inconsistent and is playing with no confidence. In his defense, however, he's a 2nd year starting QB with a new head coach. You look at a QB like Tom Brady, undoubtedly one of the best QB's to ever play the game. No question he has a tremendous amount of talent. However, he's also a veteran QB who also had several years serving under another veteran QB - time to learn the game and build his confidence. And NO, I'm not trying to compare Rivers to Brady, just saying that given some time he could turn out to be a great QB.

I would never, ever, put Rothlisberger in the same sentence when talking about Brady. And yes, Manning is a whining little B###h, but still a great QB. Perhaps the best pure passer in the league.

Norv Turner is an excellent offensive coordinator and an even better quarterbacks coach. Fans need to stop blaming everything on playcalling and coaches, and start looking at where the problems truly lie. Just as McDaniels isn't to blame everytime a screen doesn't work because the O-line doesn't sell it properly, or Pees to blame when the defense misses a tackle, Turner isn't always the one to blame when Rivers can't throw the ball into the ocean, or the receivers let the ball go right through the hands on dump off passes that would lead to first downs.

Again, I'm not a big fan of Norv, but Chargers fans need to stop and think before just spouting off. Hell, that's true of pretty much every fan base, including New England's.
