Home Field...Are Indy Out Of It ?

Looking at the AFC standings:


1 New England Patriots 9 0
2 Indianapolis Colts 7 2
3 Pittsburgh Steelers 7 2
4 Jacksonville Jaguars 6 3
5 Tennessee Titans 6 3
6 San Diego Chargers 5 4
7 Buffalo Bills 5 4

Is it now just a straight fight between the Patriots and the Steelers for home field advantage ? With the Colts now having two losses the Patriots would need to lose three times to fall behind the Dolts thanks to the win in Indy. The Steelers could in theory get to 14-2 and as this would have to include at win at Gillette it would give them the home field.

The Steelers remaining games look winnable (apart from against the Pats ) so there is a chance they could go close to winning out. Jax might have a shot against them but other than that it may well be down to our game Dec 09 to decide the issue.

I believe that Indy is currently the 3rd seed due to having two in conference losses. One of Pittsburgh's losses was to an NFC team. Lots of football left.

The Steelers finishing 14-2 does not get them home field. The Pats would need to lose another game and finish 14-2. and sorry, but that ain't happening.....

Yeh I know...in my mind I was thinking of both teams being 14-2 and what that would mean...but yes of course we would need to lose another game...which hopefully we won't

With all the injuries the Colts have, I don't know if they will get a first round bye nevermind HFA.

I was going to bring up the fact that the Steelers are a sub-par road team but their schedule is ridiculously easy. Still, Pittsburgh is a very good team, not a great team.

Retractable roof, similar to Reliant Stadium in Houston.

The Pats would have to lose 3 of their remaining games for the Colts to be the #1 seed. Not bloody likely.

One the other hand, the Colts are still in great position for the other bye ... because Pitt has one game on its remaining schedule that's a likely loss, and the same isn't true of Indy.

Must agree with Rob0729 . Colts going to suffer now till end of season with key injuries after HUGE games 2 weeks in a row ! Now they must know what the Pats had to go through last year after going to play SD on the road and than play them in the dome for the AFC, with sick injured players.

Yes I believe indy is out of it. We will get home field advantage and a bye in the playoffs while shoving it up the ****ing colts asses, Then later winning to them in the AFC championship game. Revenge is sweet. :singing:

Well, I'd certainly say Pittsburgh has a better shot at the top seed than Indy because if Pittsburgh wins out, which would include a victory over NE, all they need is NE to lose one other game. However if Indy wins out, they still need 3 NE losses.

But, having said that, I think Indy still has the inside track to the #2 seed and a first round bye because while both teams have the same record right now, Pittsburgh still has to play the best team in the NFL on the road.
