Maybe the pats can pick him up next year for Colvin's spot. Only 33 now, will be 34 by next year.

This guy is severely washed up. No chance.

Plus he's a punk.

Ive met them both I would take colvin everyday of the week and twice on sunday he (Rice) is a slacker and not a team player, no way! Plus how old do you think Colvin is? he has a lot left in him and will be resigned

As far as I know, Rice has never been anything other than a 4-3 DE and a piss-poor one at that lately since he couldn't stick on Denver's roster.

Thanks for putting (Rice) in parenthesis because at first I thought you were talking about Randy Moss and the server time stamp screwed up.

This aint the 2001 lunchpale patriots anymore. They sign all characters (and draft in the 1st round) and then mold them back to the way football players should carry themselves - on and off the field.

Except they also pick up talent. Rice couldn't make this team.

Rice doesn't have anything left in the tank.

Signing him was really a no-lose proposition for the Broncos, given the state of what passes for their "pass rush".

And the others are right - if he can't be serviceable player for Denver, how on God's green earth could he possibly make the Pats' roster?

Simeon Rice take Colvin's spot? ahahahaha

A bit of jest here surely...If the Bucs thought he was finished, Denver probrably the same, why on earth should the Patriots take him...

First of all Rice was always a defensive end, not a linebacker. Colvin is a linebacker. They don't even play the same position. Second of all, Rice doesn't fit the Patriots 2-gap system. At all. Not even a little. Belichick would never even consider him. Even when he was at the top of his game, which he no longer is.

The Vikings thought and Oakland thought also....boy, did that backfire. It is all about schemes and the team.

Yeah..ok. Which is exactly why this is laughable. Rice has no experience playing in a stand up position, does not have the bulk necessary for a two gap 3-4 scheme, is almost 4 years older than Colvin with just as much if not more of an injury history and would be 35 most likely by the time he "blended" into the system.

Besides never playing the position, being older, not having enough bulk is the fact that Rice has always been known as a pass rushing lineman who is very weak against the run (the case in TB and Arizona). Colvin plays the run well and our general pass rush is fine. If we need to bump the rush up a bit, we just put in Jarvis Green....no need for bad signings.
