Patriot fans shame Indy Star scribe Bob Kravitz into column edit

Great stuff!
Apparenlty Bob Kravitz of the Indy Star "misquoted" Mike Vrabel in an attempt to smear him and the Patriots.
Bob Polion...er Kravitz claimed Vrabel called Don Shula "a washed up coach" but Mike never said that.
Patriot nation rose up and Kravitz was forced to edit the on-line edition of his column.
Seems to me when one re-words a quote to fit an agenda that would be called journalistic CHEATING.
It's definitely journalisms cardinal sin.
Here's the edited column. "Old, retired coach" used to be "washed up coach" Check out the comments section.

Guys like Kravitz have egos as big as any athlete or coach they cover. 90% of the anti-Belichick sentiment among the media is because Bill doesn't trust them nor does he kiss their a** and they hate him for it.
Nothing better than seeing that arrogant chip knocked right off the shoulder of Bob Kravitz.
Especially when it was Patriot fans who pointed out his unprofessionalism and forced him to edit his own column.

You know what's even more shameful than getting it wrong in the first place?

Editing it and then keeping the same argument, as though the words mean the same thing.

It's as though I started a controversy about Victor Kiam, made up some joke I ascribed to him about Patriot Missiles, demanded that he apologize to Lisa Olson, and then edited the article by inserting the words "Patriot football." The article would make no sense. Like this one. Shula is a retired coach. And Kravitz claims Vrabel shows a "complete lack of class" in pointing that fact out.

Kravitz is intellectually dishonest here. He originally characterized Vrabel as classless because he thought Vrabel called Shula "washed up." So now Kravitz corrects the error, but he keeps his characterization. This is as bad as Borges plagiary in my opinion. The error should completely change the whole tone of the article he wrote.

Why didn't he change the article? My guess is that he wrote it and deliberately misquoted Vrabel, so that correcting the error didn't change his view of Vrabel at all, since Kravitz knew ahead of time exactly what Vrabel had said.

This is a breach of journalistic ethics. Kravitz is showing himself to be without morals, without ethics and without talent.

Especially since the origin of the quote was on 890 ESPN Radio... I'll bet you $1000 you never heard it on WEEI.

I contacted their editorial department yesterday and demanded a correction.

But I think the fact that they just edited the column, with absolutely no mention of the misquote or correction is GUTLESS.

But why should I expect journalistic integrity from a hack columnist ?
