Does anyone remember reading this board when the 28th draft pick came up last year & a trade was announced that we had traded our 28th pick for S.F.'s '08 #1 & their '07 4th rounder??

90% of the people posting on this board were saying we just got ripped off, horrible trade etc etc.

This may go down as one of the best trades in NFL history, we used that 4th round pick to aquire Randy Moss and the S.F.'s pick looks like it might be top 5.

So in essence we traded the 28th pick in the '07 draft for Randy Moss & the 4th pick in the '08 draft!

You need to read the game day threads here for comments by the pathetic losers who continually throw in the towell under any adversity.

My favorite was the massive whining when BB/Pioli/Kraft threw in the 7th pick for Welker. Morons.

I only remember a select few being against the SF trade but not 90%. I personally loved the deal. There were a lot of people myself included you had the attitude on the Welker deal of, that seems like a lot but in Bill we trust.

Yeah, I remeber, I was one of them. A #1 this year for a 1 next year and a 4th. I've been listening,or watching the draft since 1977, and don't remeber a team not getting at least a 3rd rd pick usually a 2nd. In other words we by most draft standards should have gotten next years 1st. and a 2nd,or 3rd, this year. I realize that we got Moss, and it all worked out,but I still beleive SF got off cheap at the time.
So obviously they must have had the Moss trade worked out and needed a mid-rd 4th.

That was truly unbelievable. There was far less commotion over the 2nd rounder being traded, but the throw in 7th rounder was too much and OMG what's the FO smoking, etc. Funny to look back on it now.

Hahah ya that 7th round pick really cost us

actually I read the entire Pats/Colts game thread today ( bored at work ) & it is pretty much comedy gold! Here are a few gems..

"This is disgraceful. I mean seriously can we start a game without letting the opposing team just march down"

( posted on the very 1st drive of the game, the colts ended up missing a 50 yard FG )

"We're going to get blown out. That's the way it looks now"

( score still tied 0-0 at this point )

"Game is over"

( still 0-0 )

"I knew our D wasn't that good. I was hoping our offense would win this."

( still 0-0 )

"The whole offense is wetting the bed. Nothing is flowing. Brady is confused. Terrible play calling. Everything offensive is offensive. Bleh."

( we were winning 7-6 )

we have lost the sf 1st rounder though haven't we? through spygate.

People also *****ed about the 3rd rounder we traded to Oakland for their 2008 3rd rounder.

You know, there's always one top 20 prospect who faaaaaaaaaaaalls all the way to the beginning of the 3rd round. :D

I remember being pissed off that we traded with SF instead of Cleveland. Now, not so much.

The Patsfans chat room during the Colts game was almost as bad. When I am at home alone watching I like the immediacy of the chat comments, but I have only gone there a couple of times this year because in the past the comments were so stupidly unthinkingly negative. A lot of "it's over" in the first half and projections of a 16-0 Colts season because the Pats were "downright embarrasssing". You'd think these guys had become football fans yesterday.

The worst part is in chat someone can pick any name they want, so the most cowardly ones can post what they want and then come back to the main board and lie about what great fans they are.

Of course, it's just just messageboards, some people are just idiots whose only joy comes from feeling superior when they criticize. I sat next to one at a game last season... was laughingly negative early on, then sat there almost silent as the rest of us were cheering for the comeback win. I mentioned it to my brother-in-law who gave me his tickets and the response was "that guy is always there and always does that."

Well, I was one of the morons but it was more the fact that it seemed unnecessary as it would be unlikely Miami would match the kind of contract we offered.

However in my defense, I was one of the leaders of the "SF isn't as good as their record last year" gang; in fact I gave them a 4-12 record back in June; admittedly a few of the Ls and Ws would change now :

Some of you may not want to read that thread though ;)

I just went through most of the thread and could have told you who made most of the negative comments before reading it. 90% were made by one poster...funny thing was that even if the Pats did something good he had something stupid to say. Then when the Pats kicked it in gear he COMPLETELY disappeared.

It was like that poster was disappointed the Pats won and had to go cry in the corner. IMO he isn't really a Pats fan anyways he just has some perverted sense of enjoyment posting on another teams message board pretending he is a fan. Either that or never gets laid and is just really, really unhappy about it and is projecting it onto a football team and his life.

At least when some of the other posters that went overboard most of them would throw in a F--yeah when the Pats did something good...but not the one I am only happy when the Pats don't execute a play poster. Quite pathetic.

Oughta know by now in Bill and Scott we trust...

Frankly, the Pats get mildly hosed on most draft pick trades they make, according to the value charts, at least the ones for higher picks. Then, however, they get a few enormous steals, such as the years when they were the runaway leader into rollover-into-next-year trades.

I think the two phenomena are effects of the same negotiating strategy, which is the same negotiating strategy they use on money and when making draft picks as well -- they just pick a value and try to come near it, largely irrespective of what the value other teams might place on the same commodity.

It was pretty obvious last year that Pioli and Belichick thought that draft class blew chunks. They wanted nothing to do with it, figuring their picks were much better spent either acquiring WRs (check!) or stocking picks for the next year's draft (check!).

It's still sort of stunning that the Patriots have one of the best teams in the history of the game, a top 5 pick in the draft, and two third round picks.

The best trade in NFL history occured on Oct 12, 1989 - you can look it up. The Moss trade pails in comparison.....

Or the Favre trade.
Or the Steve Young trade.
Or the Jerry Rice pick.
Or the Eric ****erson trade.
Or the Ricky Williams trade.
Or the John Elway trade.
Or the ....

You get the picture....

i'm only guessing, but you must be referring to the hershel walker to minesota for half their team and half their picks trade. What was it 4 players and 4 picks?

looked it up:
walker
2 3rd's, 1 5th, 1 10th
to min

for

5 players
3 1st,s
3 2nd's
1 5th, 1 6th
to dallas

hindsight is always great. It looks great now since sf is having a bad year. If sf were having a great year, not so good. It looks even better since the pats don't have thier own #1 pick this year.
