I cant imagine us actually taking this pick and not trading down, but I wouldnt mind getting a young stud linebacker in the mix.

I dont really follow college that much, esp not Penn St. Is Dan Connor that good? Is he worth a top pick, or could we trade down and still get him?

Conor is good, but he is not BIG ENOUGH to play ILB for the Patriots. If the pick is in the top 5 look for a trade down.

All the Pats current LBs were DE in College.

I can't see us taking Dan Conner over James Laurenitis. Then again, I sit on my recliner every weekend watching football, Judging Pioli and Belichick's record, I'll leave the drafting up to them, lol.

He's good, but I don't think he's "No. 4 pick in the draft" Good. Isn't funny how they have the Jets getting a RB, one year after they traded for their RB of the Future. Those crazy Jets.

I don't take much stock in these mock drafts especially when the New England Patriots are concerned.

That mock doesn't make much sense. Chris Long would never make it all the way to 8, I think BB would be tempted to take him if he is still there.

Its kind of strange to have a pick so high with no real needs to fill. Would be a waste of money to keep it, but I can only imagine what a player that is truly top 5 worthy would do under BB.

wtf is not "big enough"

look at Patrick Willis

theres more to a 3-4 than size

James Harrison is dominating at OLB at 240 pounds..Vrabel is 260.

if the player can take on blockers..it doesnt matter how big u are. bigger helps but u can easily get by without the size.

I expect the team's real needs will be on defense (LB, DBs) by the time the season and postseason ends - but no way do they select those positions in the Top 5 overall... it just makes logical sense to trade down, stockpile picks, then get the players you want.

How about if he's 200 pounds? Is that "big enough"? How about 180? 150? Could a 150 pounder be an ILB? WTF not!! You said it doesn't matter.

Patrick Willis is 6'2" 240+, Connor is 6'0" 230.

Vilma looked like an all-pro in the 4-3 and got buried and looked like a stiff in the 3-4. Size matters.

Guys they've drafted have all been bigger than 230.

Yeah I think you're exactly right. I still think Keith Rivers is the the more atheltic just all around better player. Rivers is a freak when it comes to athelticism, play making and just locating ball carries. I don't think Connor is deserving of top 5 consideration while Rivers is and so is DE Chris Long. If the Pats pick in the top 5 I think Long just might be their guy.

I guess you cant go wrong with the son of a proven winner.

I'd take Campbell over either guy. He looks like he could be the next great pass rusher. He's huge, yet athletic enough to play OLB. If we're around four or five, and he's still there, and we can't trade down, he'd be the guy I'd take. Failing that though, trade down and snag Laurinaitis and a cornerback, and keep stockpiling future picks.

I wonder if Campbell isnt overrated because of his size.

Rivers is a good player, and he has the height, but he's only listed at 220lbs. He'd have to put some major pounds on in order to be effective in the Patriots system. The reason I liked Patrick Willis was because he not only had the speed, tackling, and intellect, but he also weighed 240lbs+

It's very hard to say, because he has such a physical advantage over the guys he goes against usually, but I find it hard to believe he's overrated. He holds the point of attack very well for a rush end, and gets after the quarterback with remarkable consistency, whenever I've seen him play. He had 10.5 sacks last year as a sophmore, even though he wasn't a fixture in the starting lineup. He's fast as hell, not just for his size, but in general... he could probably play tight end and be one of the faster guys in the league. And he's a pretty good tackler, on top of all that. I think he's going to be a stud in the pros and isn't remotely overrated.
